Here’s the reality many of you don’t want to face…

Coaches should be right there running poles too.
Agreed! I was just joking. Going back to my HS days when we’d be running poles after returning from an away game. Head lights on. No wonder I made C’s in HS. 😂

Anybody that would keep a college job when he had a chance at an MLB job would be a fool. This aint on Danny.
Exactly, don't follow baseball at any level but talk about a win-win situation for TV.

Take a MLB job and if you succeed, set for life. If you fail, any college program will hire you and .... SET for life!

Thx for all you did for UT Tony!

He flat out left TN because of decisions DW made and resents the hell out of the guy.

i guarantee others on here know I’m speaking the truth.
He left because he got offered a historic once in a lifetime opportunity that he never would've gotten again had he turned it down. That's really all it is no matter how much you want to push an anti-DW agenda.

Flat out made up. I've watched interviews and read statements from him, and he always indicates he loves Tennessee. Just a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity he couldn't pass up.

Gotta give him a little more time but I agree a coach is only as good as his recruits. Tony could recruit.

Tony became a huge national personality. He was invited over and over to every sports talk show. "How you gonna keepem down on the farm"? Knoxville was just to small, he did all he could do here. Big loss for us.

In sports there are special situations and circumstances where everything—for whatever reason—fits perfectly. Right coach, right time, right players, excited fan base, and an organic swagger that’s special and leads to significant winning as well as an unparalleled pride in what’s been created. That’s exactly what happened with Vitello at Tennessee. Hell, he knew what was going on here and it‘s what made moving on to an MLB manager difficult whereas in most cases it’s a gimme decision. Unfortunately, he despised our AD and that more than anything pushed him out the door.

What went with him? The swagger and TN being a national power in baseball. As BB King so eloquently sang, “The Thrill is Gone”.

You guys can discuss the current coach and team all you wish, but the truth is it’s not going to be the same and it may not ever be. That’s why Danny White failed us all in not doing EVERYTHING possible to keep Vitello here.

I’m sure some of you were push back, but in your heart you know I’m speaking the truth.
If we look back at "dynasties, they come and go. Remember Southern Cal and AZ State Baseball, UCLA basketball, 'Bama football? The Vol baseball program was not going to sustain their championship caliber forever. I am sure Tony V knew that and it helped him make his decision. Of course, he would have been an absolute fool not to take a MLB job. I can live with the Vols being competitive every year...I would love to see championships but, they aren't necessary for me to remain a fan

I don’t really care whether CTV left to chase a dream or because he had a beef with admin.

He’s gone. We have the coach, staff and players we got. Corbin versus a year 1 head coach and we held our own to the tune of two extra inning games and a 5 run lead, B9, in the 3rd game. There’s a learning curve. Hopefully Coach will figure it out, but, that’s the reality and there’s this…Elander is gonna be here for a minute.

GBO!!!

I think it is way too early to make judgments on Elander and the state of the program as of today. It took Vitello time to get players believing in this program and he certainly took advantage of nil to combat unfair advantages vandy and others had.
Elander is a married father with different demeanor than a single maniac, but doesn't mean he does not have what it takes. It's just different. He was here for all the Vitello years and experienced it all as well. He was also a high level player and knows what the players are experiencing.
The timing of the hire had most of us fans and all the current and former players supporting and clamoring for Elander. I just think we should be fair. Yes it's different , but I believe we owe him and the staff and players a little patience . He is not settling for these results and resting on his laurels.

And Danny $$ is on the clock with Heupel, because if he goes 6-6, both are on the hot seat.

Patience. Generally, not one of VolNation’s redeeming qualities. It exists in pockets.

I recall showing up around here just as Covid began to wind down. A pretty nice sized group of regulars, but few others. Maybe I just didn’t notice due to low SNR. Probably because so few really checked in from the other forums.

My striking memory was how patient the ”noobs” (OGs) were with those that may have still been a little wet behind the ears beisbol wise, but eager to learn, or learn more, as the case may be. Analytics was about five or six years into an explosion and Corbin was still a b!tch.

Was just feeling grateful and wanted to say thanks to all that welcomed me and helped to knock off my rough edges.

The lack of intellect by some TN fans is concerning. Tony didn’t leave b/c of AD White. Idk if he liked or disliked White, but he left b/c of an opportunity to be a coach in big leagues. Period! Nothing about White. The rumors that ran wild regarding NIL are laughable.
Chris Low disagreed and his son works for the program. I’m going to roll with his between the line reporting on the departure.

Vitello saw last year that some of these guys are “Perfect Game” superstars but can’t actually play the game. Maybe he got out while he still had legendary status.
