Tennessee Lady Vol News

My prediction if CKC survives for another year. The players who truly fit her sacred system are always going to be the players she does not yet have and those she brings in will always turn out to be "bad apples" (and who also magically turn into good apples when playing for someone else).
Get out your popcorn on 4/1 if most of the team hits the portal by then, I don't think DW would have any choice but to move on from KC.

I think she should be fired because of incompetence, players entering the portal isn’t a big deal to me, because these players need to be upgraded and none of them are irreplaceable.

In this particular situation, I think young ones getting in the portal is a big deal. It means the problem was never just a couple of rotten apples among the older players. The unhappiness obviously was shared by some of the youngsters too. I'm afraid it's a sign of things to come.

Look who broke that news! Draya doing some serious get back. She really really does not like the current situation.

I mean, is this really breaking news?

Draya needs to have some professionalism. She was part of the team that was the beginning of the end for Tennessee imo. Her senior year was awful to watch.

He fired her two years
Sport source host said his seat would be hot.
And if football new staff struggle.
Fans might start to on Danny White

Crazy ass world we live in.
He been here long enough at Tennessee.
Lose fans loss your job.

This where the sheer infeasibility/insanity of this system needs to be acknowledged by the UTAD.

Hey all I need to have some reasonable degree of success is 12 interchangeable players who can play all 5 position at an elite level and consistently make threes. So, you know like 12 prime Candace Parkers but with a better 3 point shot. Ya know, not asking for that much am I?

Hell, who could not "win" with that kind of team?
Exactly. Also, they all must give 1000% at all times because 100% just won’t cut it. They need to be a Nicky Anosike type leader. They have to be the George Bailey of basketball who plays for Kim out of the goodness of their heart while never thinking about getting paid. It’s not much to ask at all.

Well quoting sports source the host said.
Go after players that fit system.
Even if not top rated.

If Kim Caldwell does that.
They probably be more than one thread compling.

Probably going to have give her one year.
Or Tennessee will get a quick hock label
I do not think anyone in the media would be saying Tennessee over reacted with the team she put on the court this past year. You can have 10 players that give their all but somebody has to do the scoring and this system requires better then average 3 point shooters and those are expensive . If she does not restock the roster correctly, it will be a long season next year. As the sweet late Minnie Pearl use to tell jokes of her less then smart bother in his hay selling business. His plan was to buy hay and resale at a profit but he could never make any money. His answer to the problem was to buy more hay. This sounds a lot like CKC logic.........run Plan A on a bigger scale even though not working..

Anti-appley metamorphosis vs. appley metamorphosis.

And don't forget must have a fondness for throwing up in trash cans. I'm sure a long line of these are already waiting at the portal gates.

I am reflecting on my responses. I have never turned this hard on a LV coach before.

Even in Holly's unquestionable "she has to go" season, I felt a lot of sympathy for her because she cared so much about the team and probably was too much of a "friend" to her players, when she needed to be more of a tough leader. I really liked Kellie and her firing kind of broke my heart, though I could understand the rational arguments for it.

CKC just feels different. Her public demeanor became just plain unlikable this season and what early on appeared to be a vast emotional chasm between she and her players foreshadowed the great collapse.

Dang. I really like Prawl and thought her sophomore year would be much better. She seems like a really sweet person, so I’m sure she hated to have to make this choice. I wish nothing but wonderful things for her wherever she goes, though it’ll be bittersweet to watch her blossom for some other program and not ours.

This pretty much sums up my exact feelings! There was something about Kim this season that just turned me the hell off! The losing didn’t help! 😂

Same here, A lot of potential.
On the bright side, she can still come back to the program if some things change. Entering the portal does not mean you have to leave.

Potentially, yes based on last years team. We had all the same issues that you mention.

We were an open 3 pt by Sara away from a win vs Ok.
We were tied with LSU in the final 20 seconds.
We lost to Texas by 3 at Texas.
We had a lead early the 4th in the Sweet 16 game vs Texas.
We had a lead in the final minute at Vandy and walked on the inbounds pass.

Add a first team All-SEC player to that team, which practically every TN team prior to Kim has had.
Would a Rickea Jackson or a Rennia Davis or even a more polished Cooper made a difference last year ?
Maybe Cooper makes that leap next year, maybe Civil grows into that or Edwards.
Last years team with a true alpha could have competed with anyone, even with their defeciencies.
True, we were close last year. I think coaches were easily able to adjust after the second/third time seeing it. Just like a starting pitcher one time through the order, you better bring something different the second/third time through the lineup. Not only are the athletes better at this level, but the coaching is better. You have to be able to adjust and change things successfully to coach at this level, but Kim has determined that isn’t needed and was a mistake.

So much for Cora Hall's "five happy freshmen" story.
Here's what Prawl reportedly said according to her article:

Deniya Prawl said Caldwell's system is different than anything she has ever experienced, but it was great to learn new things, whether it was from Caldwell, the upperclassmen or her fellow freshmen.
The 6-2 guard called her freshman year "amazing."
"I mean, I definitely didn't expect this season to go this way, I feel like nobody did," Prawl said. "But I'm really happy I chose Rocky Top, and I'm really grateful for this opportunity."
For the program to continue building next season, Prawl said it would take buying into the system and keeping a strong core group to play with incoming freshman Oliviyah Edwards, who's ranked No. 2 in the 2026 class by ESPN.
"We all have the same mindset as far as how much we want to win and how hard we play, so I think that'd be a great core group to bring back for sure," Prawl said of the freshman class. "I can't tell you what’s going to happen next year for sure, but I'm excited."

I def agree with that last part...and that year definitely did not help with recruiting either.

Yeah, anyone expecting any of the freshman to say anything remotely negative about the situation are not being realistic. They’re going to smile and wave as they walk out the door. They know better than to say anything. We all remember Evina’s infamous answer and the reaction that it received.

LOL apparently the one thing the youngsters were able to learn during their year on Rocky Top was the ability to fib to the media. Job well done Danny White prof of Dissembling 101.
