The Official #23 Tennessee [6] vs. #9 Virginia [3] Game Thread, 6:10 PM ET, TNT

Someone asked me “why are you not pulling for Kentucky in the tournament, they are in the SEC?”

Answer “the devil is in the Bible and I don’t pull for him “
Cheering for a rival because they are in your conference is stupid. But I wanted Kentucky to win because they would have been a much better matchup than Iowa State.

He touched it. Look at his reaction.
That was my biggest key until the final shot they showed where his finger was on the ball with what I'd describe as a microtouch. My girls are all volleyball players, and as an official, myself, I have always drilled into their heads, "Never tell on yourself with your reaction." Make the officials make the call.

Hall's face and body language told me he knew he touched the ball, and in a situation where there was very little conclusive evidence (which meant the original call had to be upheld), his expression would have been convincing enough for me to stick with the original call.

Of course, Hall admitted postgame that he did touch it, so kudos to him for that. Officials always appreciate when players back up their calls, even if it isn't until after the game is over.

The bammer win kept yesterday from being perfect but I'll take it. Happy for this team, especially Boswell. Was great to see him find his shot. Dude plays his ass off. GBO!!

If we can get production out of Boswell and Carey the rest of the tourney even slightly similar to yesterday, we can make a run.

Just looking at the next game, we have to have solid ball security by our perimeter players which is sometimes a challenge for this group. They can do it with their best efforts but it will take 40 minutes of total focus as Iowa St’s pressure on the passing lanes and double teams was impressive yesterday.

Embarrassed that I didnt recognize that UVa coach Ryan Odom is he son of Dave Odom, who was an outstanding bball coach. In the mid 70s, when Ryan was a toddler, I met Dave Odom when he was coaching high school ball in Durham and was spending a lot if time talking basketball with the Morning-Herald sports staff.

Thanks to Terry Holland and Wally Walker, the Hoos were actually my favorite ACC team/

Certainly glad the Vols did us proud Sunday

I am conflicted on several SEC teams. If too many fail miserably they will devalue seeds ongoing for all schools, like UT. But hard to pull for KY at all.
