Probably the weakest team we have had in a while.

We beat Bama decisively and let them win one we shouldn’t have in Knoxville. Illinois we had beat too. Nebraska we would probably throttle and Gonzaga isn’t great either. I think we’d beat any of those teams tbh.

No we didn't. We were up 2 at the half and then Illinois dominated the last 10 minutes. We last lead by 1 with about 11:00 left and never lead again. We lost by 13. In no way did we ever "have them beat".

Then the same could be said about the coach not being a good coach and showing him his potential.
yeah Barnes isn’t a good coach…
Call me unsurprised at the posters who take the side of a quitter who plays for Baylor while dissing Barnes. Losers love losers. Makes them not feel alone.

Barnes is a HOF coach, nothing is changing that. But his decision to rely on Carey so much is one of his worst I've seen since he's been here.

If JP could play defense I don’t think we would see Carey as much. And I like Brown better than Carey on both ends and at the line.

yeah I was at that game. we were thoroughly dominated on the inside the whole game. coupled with horrendous 3point and free throw shooting we never dominated we just hung on for dear life.

I also went to the Vandy game at the end of the season and lo and behold I saw the exact same team. same poor performance inside, can't hit a simple layup when you get the offensive rebound and same terrible outside shooting. from what I saw this team learned nothing over the year. sure did they have a good game or two where absolutely everything went their way, but I see very very little growth or development. even Ament still having terrible absent games scoring 10 points and missing all his 3s.

These are things that are unusual for a Rick Barnes team . . . But are true of this year’s team:

1. Poor free throw shooting . . . To, at times, abysmal free throw shooting

2. Lots of turnovers and turnovers at critical times - for example, yesterday UT had cut it to one / had momentum / had the ball and immediately threw it away like a middle school team playing hot potato - the end result was loss of momentum / two Vandy free throws / wasted opportunity - such as this happens often with this team.

3. No bench scoring

What’s not new is the UT staple of scoring droughts due to poor shooting.

Yeah, that seems to fit here. Barnes has never won a final 4 game.

I guess if you bandwagon Coach K and Dan Hurley, that makes you a winner. Sticking around when you’re not wanted makes you a winner. Excellent psychology.

I guess if you fail to achieve your goals for long enough, a few people will celebrate how often you tried.

They don’t write final 4 and national championship bonuses into a contract to hope you fall short your entire career.

He was injured and Barnes admitted that he didn’t know what was going on with him. Sounded like he went somewhere to be valued. Each action agrees with the other.

At the time I thought it was the best for all parties. After seeing us struggle at the guard position for the first time in 5 years, I’m thinking it would have been better to try to keep Carr.

Hindsight is always 20/20.

The dude walked away without talking to his teammates or coaches. There’s also off the court bs I won’t go into.
You seem to be in full support of his actions of walking away midseason with no communication. Shows a complete lack of character. Your support of the way he handled it has me thinking you’ve done that before. When you have kids, teach them the opposite please.

Sometimes there is learning nothing, and other times it's you've learned but are limited on solutions due to ability. Just additional input.

10 points could be ok depending on how efficient you are and if you're contributing in other ways. Going 1-13 in a big game if you are the star player won't cut it especially when you have so many single digit offensive players.

Sounds like you have some inside scoop you’re just dying to share.

All I know is Barnes recruited Carr. Carr got hurt and when he left Barnes said he didn’t know what was going on. Sounds to me like you’ve made empty promises your whole life and expect no consequences when you don’t deliver. Stay away from my kids.

The length you go to criticize Barnes is astonishing.

I truly hope you don’t believe the crap you constantly spew out.
It starts when a fool makes it personal. I don’t mind dishing it, also. Anything to not lose an argument.. Call me names and I’ll show everyone the four fingers pointing back at you.

Barnes didn’t know what was going on because Carr left without communicating. In no world is that the right way to handle your business, except for you.
As far as my kids, I raised 3 young men of character, 26, 22 and 19 who are all better men than you will ever be.

It shows me that Barnes wasn’t communicating to begin with. I don’t see how you could miss that there’s always at least two involved in communication.

Yeah, I’ll bet your kids crawfish when things don’t go their way either. Why did Barnes recruit such a loser? Why didn’t he replace Carr with someone better? Carr did him a favor by leaving in December. He knew then he had a player to replace.. Not someone who hangs around until the last minute and then leaves, like Awaka or Aidoo.

Plus they miss a ton of put backs off offensive rebounds.
Yes I think this stat(and Rick has talked about regularly) is prob the biggest factor. At one time we led the nation with lowest scoring “at the basket”. We have scored a lot of our points in the paint but we’re talking at the rim…CLEARLY…our big men struggle with the ability to finish at the rim. And our perimeter players have had times finishing at the rim as well. It’s not a low hanging fruit stat so it’ll not get the discussion its deserves but you are spot on!

We wouldn’t be having this discussion if Barnes had replaced Carr with someone better.

Things will be better next year. Some really good talent coming in and Evans will continue to get better. Just hit portal for some scorers and a physical big and we are set. Love seeing possibility of getting the Freeman kid again from Auburn. Have seen his name tossed around. He was wasted at Auburn and still has 2 years of eligibility left.
