Ament will improve

This honestly surprises me in a week where he shot 12-30 from the field and only had 13 points against Vandy while Darius Acuff put up 49 on Bama, alone, playing all 50 minutes and only 1 TO. Also had 20 against Mizzou with 0 TOs.

Ament had a great game against OU. Just feels like Acuff had the better week and significantly better individual performance. Maybe he won SEC Player of the Week, though. Full disclosure, I haven't looked.

Haha of course Acuff won player of the week. Really should have gave him both.

He did win POTW

Odd that I haven't heard any negative Ament comments even in his off game.
You guys still don't think he's worth $3-4M even if he takes us to 13-5 and SS or E8?

I wrote back in late November for ppl to have patience. I remembered and pointed out everybody going pitchforks on Kennedy Chandler and then he balled out down the stretch his true freshman year. Kennedy won MVP of SEC Tournament and VOLS won tournament. I'm hoping for a repeat from Ament.

In the last 4 games, Ament is 30-31 from the free throw line, that's crazy good
.. and continued to get better all year. Trying not to type with orange shades. But the way he impacts games even if he isn’t scoring makes it hard not to think, if he stays healthy he won’t continue to progress, even at the highest level. Huge tri-level ceiling

.... Refs are less likely to call fouls on smaller players being physical guarding bigger players....
Do you really want to buy into this rationalization of Ament "getting mauled without calls all the time"? Asking for Zach Edey. Seriously, is it even true? Do you see the same pattern hold with other SEC teams? With the other top 10 super freshmen? Name the players.

I just stared practice that's been going on for decades. Nothing to buy into here. It happens

Those clowns have crawled back in the lack-of-basketball-knowledge hole they crawled out of. Don’t worry, they’ll come out with the first loss and/or bad game by Nate. Pay no attention to them. Not worth the time.

Way back there in the Ament discussion BernardGOAT said Ament would be ALL SEC and I agreed with him as did a couple of others , a handful of folks who obviously knew talent when they saw it.
One more receipt.

I don’t know how anyone knows what someone will become unless they get to see the work ethic somehow. Ament surely improved a lot in very little time. Maybe the SEC isn’t as good as the teams we were playing back in November and December? I know some of our players look worse now than before SEC play.

Anybody wanting to doubt Ament anymore? Some of the takes about him back in January were ludicrous. Just a case of an 18 year old growing up and anybody that knows basketball would have known that. The talent was obvious.
I don’t understand why you and others keep bringing this up? He absolutely looked like a deer in headlights while we were watching other freshman like Boozer dominating. Anyone guaranteeing the Nate of the past 4-5 weeks would show up this season should be picking lottery tickets. Did he clearly have potential - absolutely. Did he appear anywhere close to being able to play like today against P5 teams - no way. Does anyone whose seen him play the last month not think he’s a lottery pick - only an idiot wouldn’t.

Bless you for fighting the good fight.

The staff told us repeatedly he would need time and would get better and better, maybe they knew what they were talking about? Nothing was a guarantee, but we also were told a thousand times that he wasn’t going to be ready in October and that there likely wouldn’t be a player in the county improve more than Ament over the course of these season.

Only one looks worse and that's Carey. Name them with specifics. Ament is better. Okpara is better. Evans is better. Brown is better. Burg is better.

Again, 18 years old and adjusting to a more physical game. Don’t need to say any more than that. I say it because some folks on here wouldn’t know a basketball player if it hit them in the nose and they need it explained to them.

Boswell has not looked better. Gillespie has not looked better. They’re both struggling to make shots and handle the ball. Boswell doesn’t look like the defender he did earlier either.

I don’t see the improvement with Burg, Evans, or Estrella.

Boswell is much better than he was last year. And I guess you are talking about Gillespie, the all SEC first team guard who is having to play 37 minutes a game with very little rest. Yeah, he’s awful.

I wasn’t comparing this year to last year, but I agree with you.

That was the issue though. Boozer is really not a typical freshman, even a great one. The first 5 freshmen that will be taken in the draft are elite and could all be #1 picks (or close) in other draft years.

I just don’t understand why some can’t use some patience. Anyone that has watched a bunch of college basketball could see the talent and potential. I was merely asking for patience and even said that some are getting caught up in what the other freshmen are doing. In a regular year, Ament would have gotten more publicity.

I don’t care about going back in time, but people did go overboard with the criticism.
