All things STOCKS

This exact same thing happened the last time NVDA reported. Market opened flat (although last time NVDA opened higher) then got slammed within the first hour.

Normally not a real exciting economic calendar this week. But…

On Monday: February Auto Sales (time TBD)

Before the open on Thursday: January Import price indexes

Wednesday/Thursday/Friday: employment reports trickle in.

Wednesday: Federal Beige Book (informal indicator of probable Fed rate decision in 2 weeks).

Equity futures are getting crushed in the pre-market. 1.3% - 1.8%, DJIA - NASDAQ. I guess Wall Street is upset about splattering the Supreme Leader. Actually the possibility of a long, protracted conflict.

Maybe it’s more about getting the straight blocked and 20% of the world’s oil exports are getting chocked off. But how much of that 20% goes to China AND we’re practically energy independent? We should have reconfigured our refineries years ago to shift from heavy, sour oil to the cleaner, lighter grade that were overflowing with.

If defense, especially LMT and RTX, isn’t up large today it’s probably a safe intermediate time frame trade. ITA would be my choice for a defense contractor ETF.

Are you looking at any cargo container stocks right now?

Everybody who was waiting for the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to buy, I guess I can say congratulations but also condolences.

for those of you that don't understand anything, what I am saying here is that we're having a boring day.

It is wild how much the economics of the oil market have changed over the last 15-20 years.

If this conflict occurred in 2006, crude probably would have gapped up 30% and moved higher from there. No telling how high it would have gone. Probably $150-200/barrel.

No. I’m not familiar with them. I avoid foreign stocks other than ETFs. Maersk is Danish. But I’d stick with domestic rails and truckers to tap into the space. I’ve got about 2% in CSX and a half percent in FedEx and UPS. FDX and CSX have smallish dividend yields. UPS has a substantial dividend, but it’s vulnerable to being cut.

Down 15% after running up 20% at the open. Weird. KTOS lost its gain, bounced off of the previous close, and is now up 4%.

The problem with the below $20 billion market caps is that they are easily manipulated.

ONDS did the same thing. I unloaded 1000 shares I bought last week at about 9.80 and sold them in the high 11's this morning.

I shorted a couple of put contracts. I actually don’t care if they expire worthless or not as I want to own the shares.

3/6 $180
3/13 $230

Friday close: $252.25
Open today: $284.24
High today: $303.00
Low today: $196.22
Closed today: $208.32
After hours: $213.09

Crazy. Today’s range: $196.22 - $303.00.

Volume: 13.5 million shares.
10 day average volume: 935.5K shares.

I’m tempted to move cash to the broker and sell more, but I’ve seen a lot of companies get hammered recently. The bottom might not be in today. It’s still doubled off of its 52 week low of $102.25.

I’m glad to see Bitcoin heading higher. I’m not adding to my BTC ancillaries though. Kind of early, it might be a head fake. MSTR, BLSH, HOOD.

Each interceptor missile costs about $4 million per and we’re going through a lot of them (RTX, LMT, NOC). But defense companies earn their best returns developing defense systems rather than by supplying the weapons.

Man..that downgrade on AVAV was totally brutal.

I don't keep up that closely but thought the Swithblade was selling fairly well.

The drone business is intense these days. No one has a moat. The USA doesn't seem to have any real advantage over Europe or the others.

It has turned into Automobiles 2.0. We're more expensive, slower to manufacture, not enough bells & whistles to make a difference.

The bad guys just fly them straight into private sector buildings.

War has changed.

I guess it’s fairly simple. Is their management capable of continuing to grow revenues and can they become profitable as projected this fiscal year? The analysts hate the stock (consensus strong sell) and missing on the sales and bottom line and AVAV will be a troubled stock.

They really aren’t big enough to be considered essential for national defense.
