Comparing these two teams some of our guys looked like high schoolers compared to them , they had some grown men , we showed some fight , I’d like to have seen Arv get out of that inning with it still 6-4 and see what happens but he couldn’t throw his fb for a strike today

Most of us forget the last half of the SEC last year Vols lost 5 of 6 SEC series. The program is young & frankly, maybe some evaluation mistakes were made. Fundamentals have to improve thou. Good gracious they look like Bad News Bears sometimes with errors, hit batters, passed balls, failure to secure a relay throw, etc.

I know we probably weren't playing the greatest of great teams, but I was thinking earlier on that we had a good pitching staff and talented hitters. Maybe just going through early glitch. As others have said, last years team had their slumps, too.

Last year’s team was a mess. Tony had to go get Fisher and Doyle because he knew he lacked alphas. He wanted to add a lot more, but the long championship season limited them in the portal. There’s no one like that on this team. That’s another reason Tony was so upset about Asuna.

Ford? This guy was supposed to be a top transfer. So far, Not impressed. I think Myatt will adjust, but no way he’s going to put up anywhere the numbers he did at Walter’s. The sophomore class which was suppose to be Tony’s best looks very average. Was really excited to see Grimmer, but don’t know his status. The other guys look like they missed off season workouts. I don’t think these current players have much of any connection to the 24 team or the years before that had so much swagger. It’s a young season, but I’m not liking what I’m seeing.

Young was CTV’s “excuse” last year and he said we had to get older and we did to some degree in spots but not to the extent we needed to. Wright being hurt and losing Newman to the draft hasn’t helped our cause.

The sophomore class - Clark, Marin, Newstrom, etc. - HAVE to step up and start hitting, or it's going to be a very, very long season.

One can be a fan and still have concerns. Outside of one dude saying E may have the shortest tenure ever, most takes have been reasonable. Sure it’s early but there are massive corrections that need to be made before SEC play, we’ve all seen it; once you dig a hole in this league it’s nearly impossible to dig out of, it’s just too competitive.

True, I am drunk and irrational right now, but I see no drive in this team. Bats are flat, pitching is predictable. Not a good combination for a ball team. He has huge shoes to fill and the product doesn't even look like a ghost of its former self..

The hire was made to keep the status quo, this is not it.

Hello my friends! I hope all y’all had a great year / off season leading up to the 2026 college baseball season. And, I wish my first post of the season on VN was to greet y’all with a congratulations on beating UCLA.

With that being said, I am grossly unprepared to have any intelligent baseball talk at this point. Tonight is actually the first game of the season I’ve been able to watch, which absolutely sucks! But, I had some health issues, survived a 4th brain surgery (although it’s still kicking my a$$), and one of my brothers passed away a couple weeks ago. So, I haven’t had the best luck heading into the season. But, that’s life, and I’m ready to (hopefully) enjoy another great season!

So, what’s the good and bad news on the Vols so far? I figured the early going might be a little difficult with a fairly young team and a new head coach, but I’m guessing y’all will be right there in the thick of things by seasons end. Anyway, and again, I hope y’all are all doing great, and it’s good to be back!
