refers to a chaotic accumulation of, or the noisy presence of, discarded objects and debris. The term combines "flotsam" (floating wreckage or abandoned items) with "cacophonous" (a harsh, discordant mixture of sounds) to describe a scene of disorganized, often overwhelming, junk or wreckage.

Not nearly as elegant as "pablum" but descriptive and sophisticated. It's unnecessarily bulky though.

Obscure baseball trivia reference. Cacaphonous Flotsam was signed to play outfield in the old Negro League, but at the last minute opted to play sax in a jazz band.
