What was the first Vols Football game you attended

Pretty sure it was 1974, Condrege Holloway, Larry Sievers, Stanley Morgan, Ricky Townsend.. No clue who they played, but I do remember the stadium was still a horseshoe and we sat in the stands in the open end.

Also a very weird and random memory of Hee Haw being on TV when we got home... I can't remember who they played but I can remember effin Hee Haw being on TV that night.. My brain can be absolutely useless at times...

Edit: In my defense, I was just 12 y/o..

Guessing AU 1959. Know it was that season and I was 8. We had a pair in Sec U in the 50’s rows and if Mom went Dad would buy me a cheap seat and for some reason there were always empties around them I would slide in to.

Led a most blessed VOL kid existence accompanying a pair of ushers in following seasons till a soph at Bearden, when one of our coaches left to run the Red Cross who supplied emergency services for the games, so I ride in the ambulance with him, put on a white coat and hat with the Cross in it, and served as a heart attack spotter roving the stadium for two years. My SR. Year a job I got required Sat work and ended my glory run.

My usher friends had the southern most gate.. the one where visiting teams, walking horses, the rambling wreck and Army mule entered the stadium. I was running around before the kid in the Mean Joe Green commercials did.

During my Red Cross years Dr Andy Holt often came by our room on the N Face of Sec A (still a horseshoe) and had a hot dog out of our community pot pregame. Nicest big wig I ever encountered.

I think it was 1963. We beat ucla 37 to 34 in Memphis. Gary be a was the heisman trophy winner as the quarterback for ucla.
It was 1965. I was there. Tommy Prothro was UCLA coach and was originally from Memphis. He thought officials jobbed Bruins and said he was ashamed to be a Southerner after the game.

Tennessee Vols vs USC Trojans with Marcus Allen at Tailback @ Neyland. We lost. It wasn't close. Went with my Dad.

1999 Notre Dame, I was 15.

Sat in section Double Z, got an excellent view of the jumbotron, its first year in Neyland.

We bought the tickets early that morning, and the game didn't start until 7pm. My dad and I spent all day on the strip, just hopping from restaurant to restaurant, watching other games. Great memory. Great experience.

I believe my first game was October 2, 1982 versus Washington State Cougars. Vols won 10-0. I was 11 at the time. I think ticket price was $8.00 from a scalper outside Neyland. Oh, how times have changed.

My Dad who is a Ring Knockin’ West Point Alumni, took my twin brother and I to the Army-Tennessee game in 1984. I had just turned 11 and had a hard time rootin’ cause my blood bled Orange, but my Dad’s blood was thicker. A 24-24 Tie. The next game was two years later. This time Army’s Ole Gray Line beat the Vols 25-21 on a blocked punt touchdown return with 35 seconds left. Amazing Game!!

My Dad and his buddies were singing Army fight songs all the way home!

Go ARMY, BEAT navy!!!
