2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

I do but it will also be JA’s second year in the system which you are forgetting. He had very little time to learn the system. IF he returns GMac will not beat him out
If I had to choose between the two I would take Aguilar in a heartbeat. I’m just saying I think GMac can be a good player.

I'm in the minority I hope they never get CFB "under control" again. I think Vols benefit better in this wild wild west style. If they reign it in the old guard like Clemson,Bama,UGA may start dominating the sport again

Definitely the minority. This allows mega billionaires to have influence on the outcome of college sports. Tennessee does not have those mega boosters nor the AD who are willing to blur the lines to take advantage of it.

I get your concerns, but short some gaurdrails friend we cannot outspend any of the schools in TX.

No under the old ways it was easier to compete with Bama and UGA because we are a blueblood. We just had HORRENDOUS coaches. Heck Majors and Fulmer squandered sooo much talent.

under the old rules we were a mere top 40 team. Under these rules we have found ourselves as a consistent top 25
Tennessee is an historic top 10 program under any measure. Not sure why you're taking the stretch of mediocrity from Kiffin to Pruitt as Tennessee's norm "under the old rules."

That said, there is no point in discussing the old rules. No one is suggesting we go back to that. That was under the table dealing. "Guardrails" means we keep the current setup of being open about paying players, but we go to more of a pro model. IOW, collective bargaining, contracts, and caps. Tennessee would benefit tremendously under that model.

Should have been more than one. That’s the point he’s making.

Yeah at worst we should've had a run similar to what Clemson had the past 15 years. At least two National Championships.

To have not won more with some of the talent we had in the 1990s is insane if you think about it.

It would have been great if Fulmer had won a National Championship
Yeah he's a great coach, but had it been someone like Saban, Kirby, Dabo etc coaching it likely means at worst one more. I'm no Fulmer hater, but we list a ton of games we had no business losing. Or nail biters against teams we should have blown out. I don't get why those things happened so often under him.

Disagree - not top 10 under any measure. I think you could argue for historic top 20 program by most stats, maybe top 15 in some statistics.
