I believe my first game was October 2, 1982 versus Washington State Cougars. Vols won 10-0. I was 11 at the time. I think ticket price was $8.00 from a scalper outside Neyland. Oh, how times have changed.
October 4, 2008 vs Northern Illinois. I was 6 years old

Oct 4, 1969 against Memphis State in Memphis, Vols won 55-16. Got to see Bobby Scott throw an 82 yard bomb to Lester McClain for a touchdown. It was a record for longest scoring pass play and stood for quite a while until Anthony Hancock broke it.

1965 Army. Vols win 21-0. Start of Dickey run of success through 1969. Ended season #7 with 1 loss and 2 ties. Vols only lost 1 home game during my student years…1968-1971…a 1 point loss to strong Auburn team.

Vols @ SC 2004. We won big. My second game was SC again in 2005. We lost….and that was the start of an awful slide.

1989 Auburn game in Neyland. Tenn upset #4 Auburn in a game that felt like 5 hours with driving rain and the old TV timeouts. Also, the game was dominated by infamous Cobb/Webb tandem. My freshman year of college. We were soaking wet but the memories are pure sunshine.

1990 vs Ole Miss at the Liberty Bowl stadium. I was 15 and was living about 40 minutes from Oxford, so the ride home along all the Rebel fans after winning 22-13 was fun.

1967 Tennessee beat Vandy. I was 7. My great uncle was a 1939 graduate, and he and my aunt took me to an area for alumni in the old student center. I can still smell the cigar and pipe tobacco. Most of the men wore jackets with a tie, and most of the women wore dresses.
