Teams not allowing Portal players to return?

This is the "market" kind of working itself out. I figured after a couple of years of this, we'd start seeing the other side of the coin wise up to it.

If we are going to support individual player's rights to explore their individual options, we have to expect and support organizations that want to move on because they have legitimate concerns about whether said player's heart will be in it for them. It really is a two-way street like any other relationship.

Sometimes when your girlfriend breaks up with you it is the best decision she will ever make and sometimes it is the worst decision she will ever make.
What about us married guys?

Agree except the path to a degree, that doesn’t figure in to this at all. Not sure they even go to class any longer. What’s going to happen if they don’t. Get fired ???
That's too bad. They may not value it, but it's a shame not to take advantage of it.

That should be the rule for everyone. Go into the portal if you like, but there's no going back.

This is surely going to piss of the pro nil crowd
Nope. I’m pro NIL but not pro whatever this current BS is. Players should be paid, programs also should have some protection from a player renegotiating before the season has even started. Protections should be built in for players just deciding to sit out or not play. That said players should get compensation as well.

The current system is just a CF, doesn’t mean there shouldn’t be a better system.

yep. Outside of the basic requirements, the function of "playing a sport for an education" has been replaced with what we are rapidly adjusting our eyelids to, and understandably it's a tough pill to swallow for some...fans and players alike
Wait until the media starts covering where this money is being spent—drugs, hookers, $100,000 cars, casinos/gambling, money ending up in gang members hands with threats of pay up or we go after your family, etc

Meh. It's real life and this is the job market. Only so many openings. You quit your job; they're not waiting to see if you come back. Better be damn sure you have a place to land or just stick with the good thing you got. For the vast majority of these young men, they're not making it to the NFL. Get that free education so you have something to fall back on.

This isn't much different than when celebrities spout off on politics or current events. They have the right to their opinions and ideas and we have the right to not give them money. This is basically the same except this is just players that are having smoke blowed up their a** about how great they are. The people involved are mostly vultures disguised as "agents" who are out to grab a quick payday. They don't care about the kid or the family. Quick payday. A lot of coaches and schools are all in on funding this because of the money now in sports. Ridiculous amount of money given to people who "entertain" us. Part of the reason our economy as a nation is mostly smoke and mirrors. You can't pay all these people who don't produce anything this amount of money and not damage your entire financial system. The amount of money paid to people who contribute nothing tangible is absurd and doing it while under paying people who society depends on for everyday necessities and basic services, including the military, is clownish.

Could you imagine being forced to turn in your resignation before looking for a new job? Or only being able to search for new employment or employees for 3 weeks of the year?

How about you’re a seasonal worker and have to take the job 8 months in advance and go through 3 months of training (but they strongly suggest an additional 5 months of training), just to find out they didn’t need you and you’ll just sit in the break room all season..

College football is a disgusting mess. The courts will have to intervene again.
