So, right now, if you had to pull $5 out of your own pocket and bet on who you think, not "want", to be the starting Quarterback for the University of Tennessee Volunteers when we face the "always tough" Furman Paladins at Neyland Stadium on September 5, 2026, who would it be? There are three possible players with a fourth "OTHER" option.

I don’t think it’s really possible to answer this question until the portal recruiting ends. There’s still time for someone new to enter the scene.

In a shocking move-and considering recent decisions re:JUCO, Josh Heupel is granted another season of eligibility by the NCAA.

Josh will be the first HC/QB1 in recent history

Some of y'all need to put the keyboards away until like August or so
Weinke plays QB for Furman?

Then that would fall under OTHER option, FYI

Obviously the judge is a Vandy fan boy. Gave Pavia a timely favorable ruling. Clearly no effort to timely address Joey ruling m

He's training with Tom Brady and taking injections with Gwyneth Paltrow, already looks 5 years younger.

Not sure about HC duties as well, rumor is Gruden may take over as temporary HC while Josh is playing qb.

Soon...

I'm hoping that Heupel stalls and stalls and backs his way into another QB he doesn't choose or want. His choices (Milton, Nico) have been disasters, while the QBs he has been forced to take (Joey Football and Hooker) have been successes. So I guess I hope its the QB Heupel doesn't want?

How would we know the answer? Why are you asking us? You do realize CJH is not asking us what we think they should do. 🤔🤷

Exactly! Nobody on the planet knows the answer but, 167 Volunteer fans have made an educated GUESS on the poll above. Sorry if the poll was confusing.

I don't see how Joey can be denied if the same court already set a precedent with Pavia, unless the facts are different but my understanding is Joey is in the same boat as Pavia was.
It is my understanding that Pavia was not ruled to have that year. The judge ruled an injunction to NOT block him until a court ruled on the eligibility legality. He played because the NCAA didn’t go to court over the issue. The issue has never been settled. The judge now is going to rule on eligibility but has not made a public ruling.
I think Joey can enter the portal and wait on the decision. If the ruling is favorable toward Joey ( and others) they can play with last year’s team or portal out.

IIf Heupel decides to go sign a guaranteed starter for next year. If he has 1 year of eligibility and plays 2026 season, and is done. Going into the 27 season Heupel agains has 2 QBs with no real game experience. Does he go portal again to get an experienced starter? Even worse, say he portals in a starter for 2026, and GMac, or even Fazion leaves, then he has only 1 QB left and he still has no experience. Seems they either stop recruiting highly rated (and costly) QBs from HS, or play them at some point. Truthfulily, GMac will have completed 2 spring practices and 2 fall camps by the start of 2026 season. If he’s not good enough to start or not given what he determines is a fair shot, he’ll know, and will do what he thinks he needs to do for his situation. Don’t worry about any of these players. They are making more in their first 2 years than the average person earns in their lifetime.
