Pirbula was not going to get anything here other than a chance to compete for the job. He wouldn’t have won it.
Exactly. I saw him as a backup plan for GMac, Brandon or Joey if he can’t come back - not the other way around. Not the right skill set to guarantee a starting job.

Redshirt senior. There's little chance he was transferring somewhere he didn't play his last year.

Perhaps that played into him not coming to UT but I'm not at all certain he couldn't beat G-Mac out for QB1.

Hell, check out the kid at Western Carolina. Other than that, spend the money on the defense and let’s roll with G Mac and Brandon. Not optimal, but we’re about out of options in the xfer portal. I don’t mind that Leavitt didn’t come here. Injury issue is still a big ??? Pirbula doesn’t excite me.

Merklinger may need to rethink his portal move and re-sign with the Vols. Team and player struck out so far in portal entry and Merk knows the system. Give the man a raise and his jersey back.

Haven't read what LSU offered Leavitt bit reportedly Miami offered him $6.5 million. I wouldn't have offered that much considering the injury issue and questions about his ability to perform at maximum level. I can only see that much money if the deal was contingent upon his being free of physical limitations and his ability to perform at his best.

I was thinking the $6.5M offer was for Ty Simpson before he declared, do I have it wrong?

And that may be why he didn't come but there's no way he is going to sit his last year in college.

I think the experience beats G-Mac. He's getting a lot of credit here for a guy who has taken very very very few game snaps.
Pirbula was bad last year. He held back what otherwise could have been a very good team

Love to know if we helped him up his paycheck out of the LSU pockets. Like offers where he could share the numbers, but not associated language about participation requirements to collect it or guarantees him to participate in any post season game, etc.

Following his on field production and in the locker room will be interesting. Honestly, I am relieved he went elsewhere. Nico left a bad taste in my mouth on dealing with guys at the tip top of the bidding wars opportunities.

QB next year will be whoever wins out between MacIntyre & Faizon
I suspect so, next year will be a rough one 6-6 or 7-5 but at this point it is what it is unless Joey gets a court win.

The Indiana model of building a roster of proven mature players will be the new norm.

No more wasting $$$ on hs guys just to invest in them , they sit the bench and transfer out. $$$ wasted.

yes. everytime we offered, they raised. Leavitt wanted LSU and his parents wanted UT..
