What are your most annoying Ref calls i.e. "unwritten rules" during a game?

Ball carrier stiff arming to the face mask, often twisting the tacklers head. It's never called. Facemask is a hazard to be protected via penalty, well except if you are running with the ball, then it's not dangerous.
It is only a penalty if the runner grabs the facemark and twist it. That is the correct rule.A runner can and should be able to defend himself from a tackler who is leading with his head.

10 yards is way too harsh for holding. That’s a 5 yard penalty.

Holding should not be changing down and distance from 3rd and 1 to 3rd and 11, that’s absurd.
I disagree. holding gives a greater advantage to the offense and it would/should be called in almost every play. I know everyone like to see big plays, but if holding wasn't called, the winning team would be the one who missed an extra point attempt; that is assuming that they would have to forced to kick the extra point.

calling holding only when the quarterback scrambles or leaves the pocket

disregarding DPI on the final play of the half/game

But consider the fact that when holding is called it’s already a double punishment. Loss of the play that was successful due to holding, and a loss of yards.

10 yards is bad overkill.

Not enough of an overkill that they still hold. Maybe it should be 15 yards instead of 10.

Peyton Manning brought this up and I think it makes sense.

O has the ball on the D 5. D jumps offsides and the ball is moved half the distance to the 2.5 yard “line”. Next the O jumps offsides and the ball moves back to the 7.5 yard line.

Peyton says in that instance, the ball should return to the 5 yard line. Why is the O penalized more for the same penalty?
