Georgia vs Ole Miss

I’ve been a Disney stockholder since the early 90s, but outside of that I would absolutely LOVE to see Ole Miss and Indiana in the final. Indiana is the best story in CFB in recent memory, and who wouldn’t want to see Ole Miss stick it to Kiffin?

The last school to win its first national title in college football? Florida in 1996. It would be cool to see someone other than the usual suspects break through.
If either Oregon or Indiana win it all, it would be the first time a Big 10 team other than OSU or UM won a national championship in 60 years.

Yes Kiffin built Ole Miss into what it is now but last night proves he had everything he needed right there. Kiffin is like the man child that never grows up. Always after the next shiny thing that comes along despite what it does to those around him. I’ll be an Ole Miss fan fan till they lose
This!

More people would. Brings in higher viewership numbers. At least for one of the teams to be high caliber. People claim to want a team like Indianna or Ole Miss to win it all, but will only complain here more that Tennessee can't be those teams since they have a more talented roster than both.
I’m not sure we have a more talented roster than either one. Certainly doesn’t show up on the field.

I wouldn't want to see Ole Miss win it all. I'm personally team Kiffin on this one. Kiffin built Ole Miss to have the most success that they have ever had in their history. He is the one that recruited the roster and implemented his offensive scheme. He simply took a promotion at a school with more resources just like many other coaches choose to do.

The college football calendar is a mess right now so the timing looked worse om the surface than it really was. But every other coachinh vacancy was being filled at the same time. If Kiffin and Ole Miss lost one more gane and missed the CFP no one would blink twice at Kiffin leaving. He is being penalized for his success. For Ole Miss to paint him as the bad guy and go on this crusade is silly.
Now you’re just trolling. You are the only person I know that’s Team Kiffin. Nobody thinks he a good guy in this.

Did Indiana even spend that much on the portal? They got what turned out to be great players, but mostly diamonds in the rough from what I can tell. 0 5-stars and 7 4-stars on their roster.
I don’t have details on the money but word was that Mark Cuban pumped in a bunch. Doesn’t look like a bunch of 5 stars but they certainly evaluated well on what they got and Cignetti can obviously coach. The main point is that the portal is how you do it now. High school recruiting is secondary.

So, Kiffin's O-Staff gets to ride the train into the semi round while he sits watching. Good for golding, but he's doing it with Weis Jr and staff right now. We'll get a read on Ole miss' staying power next season. New roster, and completed staff. But, you gotta love how the fans were all into him during the game. However long that lasts.

The people who keep pushing this narrative about Kiffin bringing Ole Miss the most success they have ever had must think the 60s never existed.

I disagree, it brings in the fans of those 2 teams. Most the world is tired of the same 3-4 teams for the last 10-15 years.

That was different era, with 10 conference teams, no scholarship restrictions and they never won 10 games 4x in a 5 year stretch. This is the best given the changes.

The officials trying their best to get Georgia a win to the next round of playoffs. They would fit in with the SEC officials that always takes care of Ala. and Georgia.

They and Ole Miss both spent between $10m-$12m. Georgia, Bama, Ohio State, etc. spent double that.

Could he win a National Championshio at Ole Miss? It seems more likely now after yesterday. But before this playoff and the changing dynamic of college football a National champion with under 50% blue chip ratio had not been crowned since 2011.

Despite all his success, Kiffin could not reach that threshold at Ole Miss and topped out with top 15 recruiting classes, but only by way of stocking up through the transfer portal. Knowing all that, why blame the guy for wanting to go somewhere he could get top 5 classes?

I think alot of people who logically look at the situation understand why Kiffin would leave. It's only past perception of him and the timing, which is out of his control, that is causing him to be the villian.

I don't think anyone is expecting Golding to win at the levels Kiffin did there. The key for Golding and Joe Judge is if they can avoid the massive drop off that was akin to what Matt Luke did after Freeze.

Pete Golding is to Ole Miss as Coach O was to LSU.

Everyone loves them and is grateful for their success, but everyone knows they were never long term coaches.

Schadenfreude is a wonderful thing. So nice to see uga suck it and lose. Mean old refs, yadda yadda yadda - those refs did ALL THEY COULD to bail out that trash program. That run is OVER! georgia can now slide back into being a middle of the pack SEC school.

::: Waits for VolDawgs to drop by and tell me how mean I'm being and remind me we didn't even make the playoffs, yet assure me they are ALL VOL! :::

But what if Golding does just that - win at the same levels? The truth is that you really don't know how a coach is going to pan out.

I remember in the midst of the last few coaching hires at UT, folks wanted a lot of coaches that went elsewhere that looked like they were going to be great, but then ended up getting fired at the other schools.

And the coach at Indiana is the one that everyone on here is 'over the moon' about, but given where he came from, there would have been mutiny in the ranks if he was hired.

You just don't know.

I understand why he did it. Doesn’t change the fact that he acted as he always has. A selfish, self centered 💩 head. Period.

And the main argument to leave is that he figured he had a “better shot” at an NC at LSU vs Ole Miss. Based on what I saw yesterday, it looks to me like a lot of schools have a chance today if you have money and evaluate properly. All 4 teams left played the transfer portal well and spent money wisely. It appears one can compete at Ole Miss too.
