2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Money talks. It's why TT was in the playoffs this year and why OM continues to get top tier portal talent, despite never making it to the playoffs before this season.
I'm going to sit back and let things play out. But, 2025 was a miss for our staff in portal, point blank. Seeing Ole Miss, Indiana, Andy, etc. We missed the boat. You have to do both, HS and Portal.

Agreed. Portal is king now unless you are able to have elite HS classes AND retain them.

Mack is very solid but more than that, he's an elite athlete that reportedly runs a sub 4.4 forty. And most importantly, he's familiar with the new system.
More importantly it shows a willingness to find, evaluate, and get championship caliber players. Which, watching playoffs it doesnt take a rocket surgeon to see we dont have enough. Just the talent differences is staggering.

Could see OT but I think we move Perry to RT and call it a day.

I think we are good to go at LEO with Herring and Ross. Definitely need a starting SDE tho, currently dont have a starting caliber SDE on the roster.
I hope so, but after watching them against Illinois I'm not so sure.

For what it's worth, Mack posted a 79.2 PFF grade this season. And for reference, PFF said Farooq was our best safety with a 68.8 rating.

Obviously PFF grades don't tell the entire story. But certainly you feel comfortable saying Mack is an upgrade, especially given his experience in Knowles system. And at the very least, it's easy to see that Mack is the far better athlete.

I like Farooq in the box. He had some whiffs but imo some of that was having to come from 10-15 yards away to make an open field tackle and trying to make a big hit instead of tackling the way we saw teams yesterday, breaking down getting low and wrapping up the thighs.
We will play 3 safeties a lot.
Mack, Tawfiq and Farooq is a good start imo. Farooq still young and learning but not afraid of contact.

my thing with him is tackling and honestly he doesnt run as well as i thought he might esp with his body type. He's def better the closer to the LOS. Been the case with several of our DBs lately like Wes Walker is an example of that.

It would be nice to have a safety that takes good angles and tackles the guy carrying the ball. Doesn't seem like that is asking for too much.
