College football transfer portal prices: Position‑by‑position ranges surge - CBS Sports College football transfer portal prices: Position‑by‑position ranges surge

Very interesting indeed.

We need..

3 Sateties
3 DTackles
1-2 SDE to replace Dom and Tyre
1 veteran LB

1 QB with 1 year eligibility
1 RB to replace Lewis
1 blocking TE similar to Kitselman
1kicker for the love of God Almighty

Thoughts? We should be fine at Corner with Redmond, Gibson and McMurray all back.
Knowles plays 3 Safeties with 1 being a hybrid LB/Safety at his "star/nickel" position.
We are loaded with young talent at LB they are just VERY young. Both 26 guys White and Rouse could be All SEC caliber over time. Both are top 75 recruits and top5 LBs in the 26 cycle. Still have Perlotte, Spillman etc too. We should be set on offense other than QB, 1 TE maybe and 1RB

"I feel like the average starter this cycle, the sort of line you have to hit, is $600,000," said one SEC general manager. "I feel like last year starters' in our conference were $300,000. Now it feels like starters are more like $600,000."

LOL. 600k a starter. What a #@&!$! idiotic racket this thing has turned into.

The NIL has ruined college sports, especially football. There is no more pride or loyalty towards teams anymore. We're already seeing players go to three different schools in three years chasing money.

McMurray is a senior, he has played his last game for UT.

I think players would’ve absolutely done the same thing back in the day, they just didn’t have the option. You’re now just seeing who actually cares about wearing the Power T.

Don’t see us going in on a TE with Davis, Brame, Van Dorselear.

McMurray is not back, last night was his final game as a Vol he was a senior, out of eligibility. Regardless, still need a star (Qua Moss would be nice) and an outside CB on defense.

We may not get a TE...but the problem is that of the 3 we have only JVD has shown any promise as a blocker. At all. The other 2 are incredible athletes but more like oversized WRs...TE blocking is a HUGE part of our running game and pass blocking. The reason JVD played more and early was because he can block.

I’ve read this article but still have a few questions if anyone here is well versed in NIL

1. When they say low-end, do they mean low end starter?

2. Does this mean that basically every starter on ever P4 team is getting six figures now - i was still under the impression that the majority of players weren’t getting anything (maybe a use d car from bubbas used car lot) while a few make mega bucks. But maybe the floor is higher than I thoughts.

3. Are player salaries (I like calling them what they are) published in their entirety like for pro team? Do we know how much every Vol makes?

Thanks for dropping some knowledge.

Every scholarship player on our roster is getting paid a "salary" from revenue sharing from what I understand. I read somewhere that it was about $80k per year and NIL is what pays the starters/important players more than the base number. Guys like Gmac for example who was likely paid 1 to 2 million to sit this year and practice etc. Nico made a little over 2M a year...Joey 1.25M from what I read...Gmac probably something in between

Question. How do you know what we need in the portal? Also I believe I have heard AP say we will get about 15 players in the portal.

Wouldn't you say we saw who actually cared about wearing the Power T up until the NIL? Now NIL actually makes players who want to wear the Power T question it because money is involved.

Wait till BB is all 30 year old euro/g league guys.

Also, eventually some team will just decide to completely stop drafting HS kids cause it’s a waste of NIL and go strictly on buying portal players.

Once that happens others will follow and HS kids will be cooked which will cause no kids to get coached up and then the portal collapses.

Contracts will then become a thing.

College is f’d.

This is a list of positions of need based on players leaving or missing from the roster...and is obviously my opinion. Do you really need someone to explain that to you? I have heard AP and Hubbs both say 8-10 players...the truth is nobody knows. Not even our own coaches. It will be a fluid situation that changes every single day the portal is open. We don't even know all the players who are leaving yet. So the needs i listed are definitely not a complete list.

Wait, why are Tennessee fans mad that a 19 year old player can make $500,000 ? They are definitely worth it, earning it, and according to the Supreme Court and anti trust laws, fair.

It’s not the players’ faults that the NCAA can’t figure out how to manage portals and pay.
Yeah, doesn’t make any sense we were keeping the game somehow “pure” when corporations made a killing and the players got nothing.

We created this. We, meaning society. This not sustainable at all. Throwing more money at it will only make it worst, yet here we are. Not enough of us want to be inconvenienced to affect real change. Going through a midlife crisis opens your eyes. In the grand scheme of things, all of these things are distractions to help us cope with life. Some people invest more time and money into sports than they do their relationships with their family outside of sports.
