After much thought, reflection, and prayer I would like to announce I have decided to enter the fan portal. This wasn't an easy decision and I'd like to thank my fellow Vols for over 36 years of fantastic memories. I'd like to thank the University of Tennessee for putting me on Blood Pressure medications, Anxiety regardless of how big our lead was, and Peyton Manning. Please reach out to my agent with any NIL proposals.

Funny, and I get the blue font. But what makes it funny is that we all know it doesn’t work like that. If you’re a fan, you’re a fan regardless of how the team does. You probably have been most of your life.

That‘s what makes the current season of NIL and open transfers so depressing for me. The student-athletes don’t share the love for the school that the fans do. It’s getting harder to root for the individual players when we know they’ll check out when the grass seems greener elsewhere. When they leave, we‘ll still be here.

We're almost to the point where we're rooting for clothes, just like in pro sports.

Some don't, but many more do.

You left out what schools you were going on recruiting trips to see who gets your support. 😃

Same reason I drive a Ram Cummins. Even though everything around that engine on a Dodge falls off of every truck I have and, I swear I’ll never purchase another, I just can’t buy a Duramax or whatever diesel Ford has.
Man I hate you purchased the Dodge with a Cummins. Cummins is not the engine company they once was.

Well, you should change as the times change. It is the only acceptable course of action. We evolve as humans, and we should continue to do that in every facet of our lives. I have accepted that this is where we are as a society and sport. I love Tennessee Football, I will always love Tennessee football, but everything in this country is for sale. Everything has a price, so that creates a system where there is no legacy or connection between individuals or institutions. Our society is driven by money. So we have to treat like what it is, a fundamental, independent cycle. I love a great cooked NY Strip and Lobster Risotto. To me, that meal is my sweet spot. The first time I had that meal at Ray's in The City, it was euphoric. That's a core memory for me, just like the first time I watched the Vols play. The problem is, I've had a better NY strip and Lobster Risotto at other restaurants, but that doesn't change my core memory. I can get the same product somewhere else, but a much better version. No school will replace my love for Tennessee football, but there are other teams that I like. There are some good teams out there that I like, but not love. So I will continue to love TN football, and support them. But I just enjoy good football now and support great coached teams, which we are not one of.

Yes, it is funny - but some fans will start to check out on support of NIL activities. I mean why would you want to support a player knowing full well they may move on next year to somewhere else.

Good points. I guess we’re all trying to figure out where we go from here. I’ve tried for years to find a way to not let the performance of young men in a sport dictate my enjoyment of the day. I have been unsuccessful thus far. I’m sure that’s part of my problem.
