2025/26 Transfer Portal Thread

Most of your posts are baffling, like arguing Banks was elite and insisting dropping 15 yards deep on 3rd and 3 is the players fault for not making a play.
I’ve explained why. If you want your qb to have to leave his feet to throw over a defender in his face to a tiny window on the short side of the field on a telegraphed play, I’m not surprised.
3 wide with rpo or PA rollout woulda been a good call. No idea why people ignore the DE he had to throw over.
Banks was elite last year. Stats proved it. Nobody is ignoring the DE he had to throw over. Again, I have seen that play ran with success quite a few times. You make it sound like it’s an impossible throw. It’s not. Like O said guys like Crompton, Roman Foster and Swain all guys who have played football at a much higher level than you and I combined said the play call was good. Just that JA made a bad throw.

But I guess they don’t know anything and you do. Believe what you want I guess.

I don’t usually agree with you but you’re right here. Joey’s(barely) noodle arm showed bigly on that throw. It was late, it was telegraphed and it had zero zip. He did that from time to time in every game after that throw. Up until then it was his first chink in his armor. But honestly CBll saved him about 4 more INTs before the Bama game. Most those UGA throws were under throws/elite plays by Brazzell.

everybody runs it yes but floating the ball inside was the mistake. Pylon or nothing bottom line and it did not work out.
It’s not that everybody runs that play, it’s the situation we were in. No timeouts. CAN’T run the ball. We know it, they know it. We came out in our formation. They called timeout to go over possibilities. They knew our options from that formation and were all over it. How can it be a good play call if the opposing team knows exactly what you are doing?

You’re opinion is of no concern of mine.

Just glad we cleared up that when you say the Vols aren’t winning a Natty next year just that, your opinion.

It’s definitely a possibility with the right additions to the roster.
that is a strange way to respond if his opinion was of no concern to you.

It was a bad playcall.

Here's why, Bama originally came out in their jumbo package to match our jumbo package. Knowing the situation (2ND & GOAL, 9 seconds left, no TOs, enough time for 2 plays before a FG) their coaches knew we were going to throw the ball so they called TO to not only communicate that with their players but to also CHANGE FORMATIONS!!! THEY HAD 5 DEFENSIVE BACKS ON THE FIELD!!!!! They went to Nickel formation to defend the PASS!

Not only did we come out in the same formation to run the same damn play we also run a damn play action fake which only gave the defense even more time to get to Joey bc everybody including Stevie Wonder knew we weren't going to run the ball!!!

The pass was awful, no argument there but the playcall was horrendous especially after the TO. Two man route to your 5th and 6th best pass catchers on the team (that's being generous) to the short side of the field against faster, more athletic DBs.

It was a dumb ass situational playcall.

Ok back to the portal lol.

Funny,

folks on here saying we've already secured funds to go big...

Yet, until I'm proven wrong, we will most likely do what we've done so far, go bargain shopping... We continue to do this and lose 4 again next season, and the fanbase will start to riot with the prices they are pushing on us... something will have to give...

And justifiably, Heup's and DW's arses should get real warm...

I hope we actually break the cycle and spend what is necessary to upgrade the defense and get a good QB and RB...
The portal isn’t open. But by all means, assume the worst, then complain about it.

Why invent a hypothetical just to have something to complain about? Is your life so great that you need to invent problems that don't yet exist, or so bad that you need to invent problems that don't yet exist?

every team has a pylon throw in this area. lobbed and undercut the throw. Not saying right/wrong time just poorly performed and the results changed the game of course

Coleman is great. But he's a one and done type of guy. Paying upwards of 2 million for him in a rebuild year would have been a terrible investment for a team with as many holes as they have.

If they want immediate success in year 1 (as in 7-5 or better), they need to spread that money around and improve their entire roster. Especially the OL, which is paper thin at the moment. You won't have any success in the SEC with a terrible OL. You spend big at the skill positions out of high school or when your team is already good.

Two things:

Please cite in past years where @Ericvol2096 or any other insider has said we’re going to spend big in the portal. The only time we’ve spent big for a portal player was lance heard. And the result of that the last 4 years while not “spending big” is 11-2, 9-4, 10-3 playoffs and 8-4 (last game tbd).

Second thing, do you not realize that the class we closed with this year (7th with 289.28) is always 5th or 6th in recruiting rankings? Like in the history of 247 rankings, it is always 4-6th. If Utah didn’t pay Moa 1.3 mil out of the blue last minute then we finish 5th with 295.21, ahead of Ohio State and Georgia.

Third, i guess, please don’t associate Trevor Noah and the Vols ever again lol
The only thing I recall is that we were in talks to make a big offer to Carnell Tate last January, but OSU more than matched it.

We can't have back to back rebuild years when a HC is in year 6. I'm guessing we spend big enough be in the CFP conversation. That's why CJH went big with Knowles and firing Banks. This upcoming year can't be another rebuild year.
