Wonder how these guys are ranked
A 45 lb weight weighs the same in Tennessee as it does in Georgia. However the 37 spot difference lies in upholding standards and expectations, and accountability. I do not like whatever Huepel's philosophy is in regards to team physicality and toughness. I hate using the term, but "finese" is the only thing I can think of. I just think Huepel's teams are kind of soft <shrugs>. We do not bully teams like I think an SEC team should. I want blue collar, 1970's Steelers/Raiders intimidation, not Dallas Cowboy pretty boy football!

The list is two years old, and some of the guys aren’t even at the schools listed. Mickey Marotti being ranked 21st shows the absurdity of the list.

I may be wrong, but have we not been one of the top 3 rushing teams in the SEC all five years of Heup's tenure? You don't do that as a "finese" team. I will admit that our defensive line this year didn't seem to play as physical as you'd like to see.

We've been so good at running the ball because of the wide sets Huepel runs. It forces DB's to play on an island and if the RB can get to the 2nd level, there isn't as much defensive support in the secondary. That's why the success at the RB position has been so "plug and play" for us. I can only imagine what it would look like if we signed an actual 5* blue chip RB (looking at you, Georges!).

We did not run wide sets very often this year.

Our current one hasn’t impressed me much yet. This is an area that is vitally important. Maybe he is great, but it’s time to see some results and if we can’t get them we definetly need a major upgrade. Strength coaches are very very important. GBO

This is partially true. However we have been a pretty tough team, physically for the majority of Heupels tenure here. Except for this last year. We were really soft. The wide splits are not the main reason why we have been such a great running team. It’s a small part of it.

Rankings without an explanation of methodology or evaluation are meaningless. I doubt even the most in-tune person who actually works in the field would be able to meaningfully evaluate the strength and condition Programs of over 130 schools. Pure trash. But at least they highlighted the cells with the approximate team color…that’s how you know it’s legit!
