Keen observation.I wondered if Sims would be let go, when i saw the list of expired coaches, mainly because we didnt sign a rb in this class, seeing that hazle and pope are signed and he isnt makes me think that is the case
Halzle is just the qb coach that makes suggestions to Huepel (supposedly). Pope is definitely a huge keep. top offense this year with a qb drinking from a fire hose....might as well try to keep the whole thing together and keep it rolling.Still not sold on Halzle but the offense bounced back nicely this year after a rough 2024. Very glad to hold onto Pope. Dude is coming into his own in a big way.
pay his buyout and then pay another guy >$1 million to not call plays either? i wouldn't be devastated if he left but might as well keep the staff from the #1 offense in the sec together. keep evolving, get the d going and make a run at this thing.I would have been okay losing Halzle, just being honest.
Mostly agree, but I think Star was underrated and a nice change of pace back, I think the rb group performed fairly well, definitely a couple of bad games like oklahoma, and could really take or leave sims personally, whatever helps us land Georges would be where I would lean on that decisionKeen observation.
If Sims goes, wonder who's out there that can be had to replace as RB coach.
Also, while the RBs took a step back this year, it wasn't a bad performing group.
Seems like the transfer, Star, wasn't all he was billed to be but the two returning guys had good seasons.

Star was 2nd on the team with 529 yards and 2nd in YPC at 5.6. Outside of Bishop, Star was our best RB. Way better than LewisKeen observation.

Not quite the overhaul some may have anticipated. So every on-field coach, with the exception of Garner, has a new deal.
“Offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Joey Halze and wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope agreed to two-year extensions through the 2027 this month, and tight ends coach Alec Abeln, running backs coach De'Rail Sims and linebackers coach William Inge all inked one-year extensions through the 2026 season in February. Offensive line coach Glen Elarbee signed a two-year extension through the 2027 season in May.
With outside linebackers coach Levorn Harbin getting a new two-year deal to go with his offseason promotion and secondary coach Willie Martinez signing a two-year extension to his expiring contract in the offseason, the only Tennessee coaches now on expiring contracts are defensive line coach Rodney Garner and Director of Competition Development Kurt Schmidt.”
crazy to me... not a shot at any of the other coaches...So every on-field coach, with the exception of Garner, has a new deal.
