OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

Hate to say it but we might be staring down the barrel of another 8-4 season. Going to 9 games is single handily the stupidest 💩 Sankey has ever done. Any team in the conference is going to be celebrating going 9-3. 10-2 will feel like we won a national championship.

Eff them Paladins. What's a paladin?
An Arabian prince? …nope:

  • Charlemagne's Knights: The most famous paladins were the twelve legendary knights in Charlemagne's court, analogous to the Knights of the Round Table, appearing in medieval French epics (chansons de geste).
  • Origin: The word comes from Latin, meaning "of the palace," referring to guards of the imperial palace in Rome, later applied to Charlemagne's elite warriors.

For you older folks, "what's a Rutgers?"
"Rutgers" is primarily known as a surname of Dutch origin, meaning
it comes from the male given name Rutger. It was adopted as the name of Rutgers University in 1825 to honor Colonel Henry Rutgers, a Revolutionary War hero and benefactor of the institution at the time.

Also popular with the dungeons and dragons crowd.

No, no. When we played Rutgers in the late 60s or early 70s, there was a quote, "what's a Rutgers?" Ended up like Georgia State.
