.
We should at least wait until he does not stop his first 3rd down. Then bring out the pitch forks.

I feel bad for the guy the first time a quarterback scrambles for a first down plus yardage. He'll be lucky if he can leave the stadium without being tarred and feathered

WHEW!! Really did cross my mind that Michigan might come knocking on his door, being that he has great ties to the Big 10. And who knows, maybe Michigan did approach him but, at least for a few days..., I think any coach in America would say that Knoxville is a lot better place to be today than Ann Arbor!!!!

Warmest welcome to Knoxville Coach Knowles. Lotta work to be done ASAP but remember, you can always rest after your first Natty!! Go Vols!

I know nothing but I would think he would be involved with bowl practice. Maybe just watching, coaching. Maybe not game planning. Again... I know nothing.
His last official duty for Penn State ends this weekend. Their Bowl is Saturday. No reason he can't be here on campus on Monday. He can do whatever he wants once he gets here.

Hope so. Seeing practice would help him determine who does and doesn't make the cut and that dictates portal needs. I'd also hope he might lend more than a hand on the actual scout and prep for Illinois.

Then again he might not want to have his fingerprints on any part of this years defense. Can't blame him for that.

"Hiring Jim Knowles was our top priority from the start of this process," Heupel said. "Jim has a proven track record of developing elite defenses that play with an edge, and we got to see that first-hand during the 2024 College Football Playoff. His defenses are always physical, well prepared and can adapt quickly in-game against today's complex offenses. He's a competitor, a winner and someone who will get the most out of our players in practice and on gameday. We are thrilled to welcome Jim to Rocky Top as he helps us chase championships."

That Knowles D took apart Heups offense. Just shows how smart of a coach he is to put his ago aside and go get him. Heup is killing the offseason so far

So do we start putting in his stuff now and take advantage of bowl practices and not worry about stinking up the bowl game or does Inge still run Banks stuff.
I’d go ahead and install some stuff just to throw some new wrinkles in there. Couldn’t possibly be any worse than what we saw this season.

No one has entertained the real question. Did Heupel already have this hire in his back pocket before he moved in from Banks?

He just doesn’t seem like a guy that would dive into the deep end if he couldn’t swim.
I believe Knowles replicated his exit from Ohio State and reached out proactively.
