Thinking him and Inge will not sleep much the next few weeks. And Knowles really knows Illinois. So that's a plus. This may be a dumb question…..but can he provide advice or recommendations to the staff for the bowl game? Not sure if there is some kind of provision that would prevent him from coaching this season until after the bowl
It does when dc is up in the box and defense is having trouble communicating and confused. I like a DC that can walk over and talk to his guys. One thing I've noticed, and maybe I just haven't done enough research, is that the better DC guys coach in-game from the sidelines. I know Knowles does, but Banks did not.
Anyone think that makes a difference?
I doubt there's a restriction. 3 offensive coaches returned to Ole Miss from LSU to help coach the CFP's. Sumrall is coaching Tulane in the CFP as the recently hired UF coach. This may be a dumb question…..but can he provide advice or recommendations to the staff for the bowl game? I never considered this. But it is possible Jim will also help this offense improve. He shut us down. He can get with Heup and make sure that never happens again."Hiring Jim Knowles was our top priority from the start of this process," Heupel said. "Jim has a proven track record of developing elite defenses that play with an edge, and we got to see that first-hand during the 2024 College Football Playoff. His defenses are always physical, well prepared and can adapt quickly in-game against today's complex offenses. He's a competitor, a winner and someone who will get the most out of our players in practice and on gameday. We are thrilled to welcome Jim to Rocky Top as he helps us chase championships."

I think that's sort of overblown. Every decent team we played last year made life hard for the offense. We scored 23 vs Oklahoma, 14 vs Arkansas, 17 (in regulation) vs Florida, 17 vs Georgia, 17 vs Alabama, and 17 vs Ohio State.I never considered this. That’s actually a good point as well. I still believe my statement based on the ideology of “iron sharpens iron.” But you are correct.I think that's sort of overblown.
