I’m actually dumbfounded at how many people are upset at the Knowles hire. Before Penn State this year (which was a dumpster fire) his defenses the last 4 years were:

- 1st nationally in total defense (284.8)
- 2nd in scoring defense (15.7)
- 2nd in third down efficiency (30.5%).

Literally you can’t hire a more qualified guy.

His OSU defenses were spewing top talent. PSU regularly has top 10 talent and gave up 43 to Nico.

I think he can be pretty good here, but hopefully our staff survives long enough. This isn't Duke or OSUw where he'll get 4-5 years mid-HC era.

I guess all that defensive talent on his teams just materialized out of thin air.

Look at who that defense had.

They're currently giving up 8 ppg, without him.

I mean...if he's bringing an all-bluechip roster defense with him, yup that's different 😅

He took a defense at PSU giving up 14.5 ppg the prior 2 seasons and immediately added 50% on top.

Most damning, the OSU...and now PSU folks, were glad to see him leave.

I just think his system is too much for the modern game of fluid rosters, impatient fanbases (maybe most importantly), unless we're going to start recruiting top-3 defensive talent...then by all means.

OSU folks literally said he just ran base in 2024 over and over...he didn't have to do anything.

Again, I'm hoping for the best and he's fine, just not a good match imo with a 6th year HC and antsy fanbase. Just hope fans remember this next year and 2027. We hired him, so at least give him a few years. 2028-2030 re-evaluate if not going well. Gives Hype 8-10 years and Knowles 3-5.

His last year at Ok State and then OSU

His last year at Ok State (for those that say it was just Ohio State talent) his defense was:
- 1st in sacks
- 2nd in TFL’s
- 2nd in 3rd down D
- 5th in total D
- 5th in rushing D
