Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

No Stoops for me. Muschamp fine. He owned us even when he was losing a job and he's as intense as they come.
I personally have no desire for Stoops either. Not really a dig at his ability but he acted like he was already retired to me this year. I prefer younger and hungry. I also think Heupel could use a little fire from one of his coordinators and I prefer that he be on the defensive side. Not that he should care what I think.

Nakos board:

Travaris Robinson, Georgia co-defensive coordinator

Ryan Walters, Washington defensive coordinator

Chris Hampton, Oregon defensive coordinator

Jay Bateman, Texas A&M defensive coordinator

Clayton White, South Carolina defensive coordinator

Jim Knowles, Penn State defensive coordinator

Tony White, Florida State defensive coordinator

Corey Batoon, Missouri defensive coordinator

Knowles and Walters are appearing on every list so those really may be the two to watch initially. Didn't realize Travaris Robinson also coaches UGA's safeties...They have had elite safety play and recruits.

Okay, so I took my mom to an eye appt earlier, and I was listening to the radio. Can't stand Tyler and Will but I listened anyway and one thing that was said caught my attention, and one thing that was speculated on did to. The speculation, William Inge is probably the next DC. Why? Because it will be hard to hire a DC if he doesn't have freedom to hire his own guys, and they're not convinced Heupel is willing to part with his other defensive guys. I could see that being true. Not saying it is, but it's not a huge stretch. It makes sense.

What was said, in the years Heupel and Banks have been here, supposedly tackle drills were not part of practice. On the one hand, it is hard for me to imagine coaches not going over fundamentals. On the other hand, I've spent enough Saturdays yelling at the TV to know our tackling is atrocious. If it is true, that's not only on Banks, that's on Heupel as HC. HC is responsible for making sure the fundamentals of the game are being taught. I hope it's not true. Surely it can't be. But when you think about our attempts at tackling...... You can't help but wonder.

Tim Banks had the same role at Penn State that Robinson does at Georgia.

I will take a guy who has a proven track record of being a defensive coordinator calling plays, rather than someone who has loads of potential

Out of that list Corey Batoon would get me the most pumped up. Sure Robinson would be an upgrade at coaching safteys but we don’t know if he would be one at DC. I think we also need a proven DC

Muschamp went from Co-DC with Georgia to an analyst position because he wanted to "spend more time with family." I'm not sure I can see him coming here.
This 100%. He’s received two large buyouts from UF and USCjr and isn’t chasing any longer.

He’s comfortable being around the game as an analyst and when you add in the fact Huepel has no connection to the saban coaching tree, I don’t see it.

Also, has a son who is a backup Vandy.

One possibility I haven’t seen too much (unless I’ve just skipped over it) is Justin Wilcox. Was a good DC here for a couple years.
