Yesterday someone was saying Banks is not elite and we need to get an elite DC. I said who could we get, its not like they grow on trees. I said it is not like we are going out and getting Jim Knowles, I assumed he would go with Franklin to VT. Man, I would love to be wrong on this one.

VT already hired Brent Pry DC.

Jim Knowles I think is a possibility. Campbell bringing his DC from Iowa St. Knowles is still under contract and PSU may keep him but maybe it's too many chefs in the kitchen and we can pull him from State College.

I could see a scenario where he's Co-DC with a new hire...but I highly doubt he's promoted to solo DC. He's likely not even going to be Co-DC, but I'm glad someone other than Banks is in charge of the defense for the bowl game.

Exactly. This is how lazy, inaccurate media narratives get started and it really annoys me.

The only ways that one is like the other are that they were both coordinators and they both were fired. Other than that, there are basically no similarities between the two situations.

Not really even close. Heupel was the scapegoat for weak defense. Banks has an underperforming defense.
