Why would they join a conference? They get $50 million a year from NBC and $17 million a year from the ACC. They’re also almost guaranteed a playoff spot starting next year with the deal they struck with the playoff committee.

They make less from their TV deal than all of the Big 10 and SEC members. Money is not the motivator. They love that their one vote counts as much as each conference's.
