Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

And yet it didn't in past weeks. Very, very curious. Consistency is lacking, which is one thing that will tick folks off.

Just go back to the BCS computers. Everyone knows the criteria, no made up human judgment calls. Jmo

They should just stop ranking teams altogether and drop the CFP rankings after every game is played.

That way all the arguing can happen at once vs every week new rankings come out.

ND shouldn’t be allowed to compete for the national title until they join a conference
Why not?

They play games like everyone else and have an SOS, SOR, FPI to refer back to like everyone else. It seems arbitrary.

We just want the best teams in , right? They seemed just fine last year whipping UGA. They lost 2 games all year by a combined 4 pts and get left out this season.

Fwiw they would currently have the 5th (out of 17) toughest schedule in the ACC. So, their schedule would actually get easier, on average.

BCS ranking took into account human polls as well
Good point, a couple. But not the determining factor. Take them out as well.

Better yet, have a rules based system...like any well organized league has.

4 conferences...X teams get in. Next 4 leagues get X teams in. No rankings, just rules. No whining, everyone knows the rules ahead of time.

At the end of the day Texas had the best resume of the remaining SEC teams

Ranked wins over A&M, Oklahoma, and Vandy. Losses to Ohio State, Georgia (blowout) and Florida.

Bama only two ranked wins against Georgia and Vandy. Losses to Georgia (blowout), Oklahoma and Florida State (blowout).

Vandy with zero ranked wins and losses to Bama and Texas.

Bc they never risk an extra data point going against them.

They should never be ranked ahead of any CC game participants, winners or losers.

If they want to be independent, they can play 12 exhibitions per year and not compete for the title.

That’s prob the best system. But also means conferences need to be smaller so everyone can play everyone. Unbalanced schedules and all.

Oh I agree... And I think that's why they didn't drop Bama, so it would force Miami/ND next to each other, and then they could finally consider the game they actually played...🤓

Because you can somewhat compare them to peers. By being stand alone, they get the benefit of being a historical powerhouse and the brand gets bumped.
That and it forces you to judge ND by a different criteria because there's no opportunity for them to play another game.

On that alone I don't think it's fair to say ND should be in over Bama because you saw Bama yesterday...
