Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

What exactly do you believe this demonstrates?
It proves that players always don't have to be 4 and 5 star recruits to be successful.. you can you it your way and I will see it my way....👍

The # of stars besides the players name doesn't mean success in future. How did our last 5* QB work out for us? Or the 4* Safety ...

So teams should try to not make it then. Aim for 3rd and 4th place conference finishes
Always thought if they turned the SEC championship game into a “play in game” for teams 4 and 5 (or something similar) it would maintain its view count while making everyone involved actually glad to be there.

Just have a regular season champ.

Now we’re cooking. I like this idea

Regular season has been over for 8 days now and Tim Banks is still employed….
Until VT hires someone not named Tim Banks, you hold off on firing him. He's got a buyout and if you can get rid of him AND his new employer pay you so they can hire him...you've got to hold off and see if it happens.

The ex Florida player on CBS Network said the same thing last night about using Conference championship games as play in games when the number of teams are expanded in CFP..

They’re gonna have to do something bc they’ve created a mess. Rewarding teams for not making the game in this current format seems really dumb.

And to clarify I don’t want Bama in. Couldn’t be happier Saban’s reign of terror is over.

Just curious on the local kids we offered as PWO's, where they ended up.

We offered before the 85 to 105 ruling came out, essentially squashing the PWO program. Still, I think you'd need players like this to fill out the bottom of the roster for development I'm curious if they'd get offered scholarships.

TN OT Jeremy George not signed or committed
TN OL Issiaga Yattara - committed to austin peay but doesn't show as signed.

EB Jayzon Thompson - Not signed by anyone

I think the PWO kids are going to lose their spots to portal players.

Cfp idea that’s most logical:

-16 team playoff
-Every conf champion gets a spot (9 total)
-top 4 teams get double bye, teams ranked 5-8 get single week bye
-round 1 starts week after conf championship week for teams ranked 8-16 (on campus)
-winners play teams ranked 5-8 (also on campus)
-winners of those games play the top 4 in quarter finals
I think if you want to guarantee conference champions a spot in the CFP you need to standardized number of teams in a confrence and number of confrence games.

The group of 5 should have a play in games. This is justified because G5 schedules are about ready to get much worst if every confrence goes to 9 confrence games + 1 quality out of confrence opponent. Take the top 4 ranked G5 schools and have them play a game for 2 spots in the CFP.

If we go to 16 teams I think they would drop the confrence championship games. The 4 P5 regular season champions get an automatic bye and seeded 1-4. Then there are 6 games in a wild card weekend at the higher seeds home stadium. They implement reseeding likethe NFL playoffs.

And you believe this is a novel concept? That players don’t have to be 4 or 5 stars to be successful?

Are you also operating under the belief that the ranking system, and subsequent Star rating, is a “guarantee” of success?

Top 2 from each p4 conference. 3 at-large from p4. 3 from g5 and 1 for fcs champ. That leaves 1 extra to be used to kill any controversy.
