No it’s not good especially the 19! From Farooq BUT you can teach better tackling/angles. You cannot teach athleticism and he has plenty of that.

Better DL and LB play along with better schemes will greatly reduce missed tackles by safeties. And a safety coach. Hard to make plays when on your heels at every snap.

That’s fair. We’ve had some great CBs under Martinez but not really any elite safeties

Heavy doesn’t matter. But nailing those evals like you said absolutely does.

That's my biggest concern with Heupel and this staff....evals. Very, very suspect at several positions....cough, cough...qb!

Yep esp when every yr teams in our league go to the portal and put together a pretty good defense. LSU did it this yr and their issue was the offense. Lane also did it at Ole Miss multiple times. Clark Lea as well.

Absolutely! Look at Texas Tech. They spent a ton in the portal and bought themselves a playoff team. Some will say they are in the Big 12, regardless they have a really good defense and team. There's no excuse to not fill in the gaps with good portal players

I would assume we wouldn't go after a potential starter WR since Travis, R Jax, and Keys would be battling for their last open spot.

Don't think we take a portal WR unless someone leaves (Bey, Jefferson) but even then we would take a young player in that scenario imo.

We have Receiver’s already here that had the expectation and rankings of these WR’s fans on here are wondering if we go after, waiting on their turn.

If we need to go after a WR we have a lack of development problem.

We will get more than that just on the defensive side of the ball. Probably 3 D-linemen, 3-4 DBs, 1 wr, and 1 rb. Possibly a qb.

Texas Tech went heavy because they haven’t been recruiting like we have.

We just need to grab 5-7 guys to go with our good classes.

Agree that’s a fundamental of football. You assume the kids can tackle. But what I don’t know-how physical are Heupel’s practices? We are not very physical. We seemed to get even less fundamentally sound as the season wore on. I don’t know what the explanation is but we are not a strong blocking and tackling team. Some will say, “you play like you practice.”
We play soft. So my only assumption is we practice that way as well.
