JMU Does Not Belong in Playoffs

I just want to see them lose to Troy and UNLV win the MWC and Duke win the ACC.

Because the final spot will come down to Duke or UNLV in that scenario 😂😂😂😂

Their lines are awesome. Their passing game is horrendous. QB mechanics are bad and can't put the ball where a receiver can catch it and keep running. Everything high, low, inside, or outside with no touch. Every throw a rocket. That's if the receiver can catch it. None of them seem to be able to make any kind of a marginally challenging catch.

JMU is 11-1 and will probably win this game but they should not be in the playoffs. That is just a wasted spot taken away from a more deserving team.
The only ”deserving teams” IMO are ranked in the top five or six. Yes there are a bunch of better teams than JMU that were left out. But you will always get the argument of this team should be in or this team should be out. I would be happy with a 8 team playoff without some teams getting an undeserved “bye”. But the greed wants a bigger playoff.

The only way JMU gets in the playoff is if Duke beats Virginia. I would love to see Georgia beat Alabama, Duke beat Virginia, and BYU beat Texas Tech. If this happens the committee will have to choose either Notre Dame, Miami (FL) or Alabama for the 12th spot. Or they would have to drop Texas Tech from#4 to below
It's likely set: Ohio St., Indiana, Oregon, Georgia, Tex A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Tulane and Texas Tech are in. Leaves 3 spots. Just think BYU and Duke could fill two of those.

Now a Duke win and JMU is in!!. I hope Duke beats Virginia. And if Georgia Beats Alabama -- There will be 2 teams out of these 3 that make it in (Alabama, Notre Dame, Miami). I think they take Miami as one of them because that would give the ACC a team in the playoff. So the final spot would be between Alabama and Notre Dame. So Bama fans you are likely in, but be careful.

Yeah at 16 teams I would not really care, albeit even then, other more capable teams would be left out. A lot of these teams have also beaten no one and have losses to teams much weaker than all 4 teams that Tennessee lost to. One of which got the shaft. Vanderbilt would destroy JMU, and I think they would beat Virginia convincingly for that matter.

If they are one of the 5 top conference champs they do belong in the playoffs. That is the rules. This has never been about the BEST 12 teams based on someone's subjective opinion of who is best but about a series that has the 5 top conference champions then 7 at large bids given to the teams that the committee feels are the 7 best that are not a conference champ.

They let these teams into the basketball and baseball tournaments - no reason why they shouldn't let them in the football playoffs. Plus, there is no G5 playoff for them to participate in.

I personally would love to see one of them beat an Ohio State or a Bama, etc.

In order to get the G5 conferences on board with the playoff, they had to give a G5 team a seat at the table. So that’s how that happened. I think moving forward, you will see a 16 team playoff with straight seeding. No guaranteed spots. Since there is not a lot of P4 versus P4 inter-conference play, you are looking for the best eight teams in the country to determine your champion. They will double that number and go to 16.

If the loss to UGA is close, Bama is still in. The committee placed Bama above Notre Dame for a reason. The selection the committee doesn't want is Miami verses Notre Dame but Miami lost to both Louisville and SMU who both finished at 8-4. That is why they are where they are.

And I do not agree with this. I truly believe a team needs to be a champion of a conference to play for the National Championships - like the NFL winning a conference championship should matter. Otherwise, the whole argument of who is the best team is just subjective. That is why we saw FSU, Clemson and others ranked so high only to find out they really were not that good.

They appeased the G5 team with the rules - but they also appeased the B1G and SEC as well with all the "at large" bids.

And as it looks like the SEC may get 5 teams in - if the SEC tanks again, like they did last year, you can bet that will not happen again.

There are NFL teams that do not win their conference who make the playoffs. Whether you or I like it or not is irrelevant. In the end, it’s all about the money, and there’s a lot of money to be made here. I see a 16 team model with straight seeding. Remember, I’m wrong a lot.

Then the CFP needs to be expanded or there needs to be some rules in place that require the G5 team to be top 15 or have beaten a P4 school or something in place that legitimizes them being in a 12 team CFP. If no one meets that criteria they should be excluded. If Tulane and/or JMU go to Athens, Tuscaloosa or Eugene they’re gonna get their doors blown off.

I hope JMU gets in when Bama loses this afternoon.
Alabama is the 1 seed in the SEC, no way they get left out. Unless they lose by 100. They shouldn’t either . They shouldn’t be punished for losing to UGA after already beating them on the road. Notre Dame shouldn’t benefit from being home while these UGA and Bama slug it out .

You do know there have been 11 wildcard teams make a Super Bowl? And 7 of them actually won? And before they expanded to 14 teams, whenever it was still 12 teams, that two 6 seeds have won the Super Bowl? If we did a conference playoff like the NFL, that would be the equivalent of Oklahoma/Vanderbilt winning the SEC Championship and Iowa winning the Big Ten Championship this year.

Lol!! That would be crazy awesome.

For me, it is same as the basketball field. Teams who are the 15/16 seeds would normally lose to SEC teams who miss the field. But, it adds the magic dream factor to March Madness.

Do understand that JMU or Tulane can play Texas A&M ten times and would probably lose all ten. But, it provides a dream. Like the year Memphis St beat Peyton Manning in a fluke game.
