Legend Bey

Clearly the kid has no desire or want to be at Tennessee just release him from his NLI or just let him enter the portal in a few weeks

Because he doesn’t want to be here at all .

He pretty much made that clear when he flipped to Ohio State when he commented about it
Yep. Legend is a gentleman and a scholar. He has my upmost respect.

Anyone tracking all the drama with Legend Bey?

If it’s true that his family pushed him and he did not want to come to UT. I’d honestly prefer him to go to Ohio State and avoid another Boo Carter situation.

I don’t think his mom is ratchet like Boo, but if a kid’s heart really isn’t into going to Tennessee, I think it’s a bad look on the university unless they release him and let him go where he wants.

Plus, if a kid doesn’t really want to be here, why have that in the locker room.

Have OSU buy his NIL contract/angreement out with interest. If he doesn’t want to be here use him as an example for the rest of college sports.

He can go into the portal in a few weeks but the headlines and his name will be attached to a school collective holding a player accountable.

This is the other end of parental spectrum compared to Boo / Nico. Instead of the parent pushing the kid away from UT, the parent (a-parent-ly) is pushing to UT. Neither is ideal. The parents in the situations are too involved. Too meddlesome. I would really like to see Bey at UT. But where he attends should be his decision.

Depends on the kid. Some kids can't make good decisions at this age so their parents should most definitely be involved.

Parents of 17 year olds should be evolved in life changing decisions. At this point everything is speculation, if he asks for a release, I'm sure he gets one and our roster will not be ruined.

Agree to an extent. No parent wants their kids making profoundly bad decisions...like hey mom and dad, im going to try heroin. But a "bad" decision on college is different to me. It might be a mistake in the long run but I believe mistakes help shape us and develop us into better people (when handled correctly).

Like I replied a moment ago, choosing a college isn't "life changing" to me. If it is the wrong fit, he can reset his academic career somewhere else.

My definition of "life changing" is likely different than yours...and that's okay.

You said "meddlesome". That's what I was addressing. Good parents aren't meddlesome.

If they are footing the bill, then yes. My kid wanted to go to a certain school and tuition was going to be about 30k a year. UT offered a full ride. I said if she wanted to take out loans and enter life $120k in debt, she had my blessing. If she went to UT we’d pay her rent and basic expenses. She chose wisely.

If she’d gotten a full ride at the $30k option, it would have been 100% her call.

If any of this is true then how do you as a head coach allow this kid to sign knowing he doesn't want to come play for you? This is worse than being Boo 2.0 because this kid made it well known that after he flirted with UT all summer, he intended to go to OSU. But because momma wasn't happy with it and forced him to sign with UT, Heupel just went along with it?!?!? As a head coach, he's got an obligation to protect his players, staff, and the university from this kind of BS and tell this kid AND HIS MOTHER, no thanks...if you're not fully invested in being here, we don't need you nor do we want you. First Nico and big Nic, then Boo and his momma, and now this fiasco. Heupel continues to not learn a damn thing from his mistakes on and off the field and that should be eye opening for some of you. He just can't help but have drama surrounding this program. If the intent was to get the signing class rank boosted so you can have some sort of bragging rights, I think that's the wrong approach. The fallout and negative headlines this is bound to blow up into isn't worth the temporary boost in class ranking and it's 1000% on Josh Heupel. He owns this. Again, if any of what's being said is true, then this kid should be gone already. Call a press conference, wish him well wherever he ends up and cut this cancer out of the program immediately.

For all of you who thought it was a great idea to hand over millions of dollars to teenagers who's brains haven't fully developed yet (and their money hungry parents).....welcome to the chaos you asked for. It's going to get much worse before it gets better.

"If any of this is true...."

Predictable long rant against the coach. Maybe just let it play out?

At this point, who knows....I do hold any NIL payment until I have had the opportunity to talk with the kid directly and see if he wants to be here or was forced or if this is disgruntled OSU fans trying to make it look like a bad situation. In today's world, who knows. But I do want to have a 1:1 conversation with the boy once he turns 18 to see what HE wants and make my decisions accordingly. I do not just cancel everything based upon social media posts...we know all that can be as fabricated as any other story, just goes viral really fast.

I agree, again.

But I definitely know some people who consider themselves "good" parents who are very meddlesome.
Meddlesome doesn’t mean they aren’t good parents. Making life altering decisions w a 17 yo mind is typically not a good decision

I was 17 once , and if I had listened to my parents more

I had friends w w “ cool “ non meddlesome parents , 2 of them were dead by 30

Somewhere in Los Angeles Nico is staring slack-jawed into space, processing the idea that you can sometimes do something besides what your parent(s) want you to. If Bey seriously wants to go to Ohio State and had the gumption to put that out there despite some potentially toxic home pressure, we as a fan base, out of anyone in the country, should be the first to step up and say you do you guy and best of luck to you.

If true then it was a bad decision to allow him to sign, if not then Legend should clear the air. I definitely agree with Palmetto that this is only the beginning considering the money out there and "some" parents as well as 17 year olds that have never made much money and to be put in these positions all leads to a possibility of it getting worse more so than better.

Coaches probably should've been talking to him before signing day to see where his head/heart was really at, then with the parent and see what they were saying.

I get parents wanting to be involved that their kid is making the right decision but going to UT or OH wouldn't be a bad decision either way
