Because I asked about who our QB will be next year with all this talent and said a freshman wasn’t gonna get it done if we are going to compete for playoffs ~ that we need a portal QB?

If we do replace Banks, I think a name to watch out for is former Purdue head coach and current Washington defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. Washington had a top 20 defense this year and he was on staff with Heupel at Oklahoma and Missouri. He had a top 3 defense at Illinois before getting the Purdue head coaching job.

I noticed Oregon, Michigan and Ohio St have unsigned commits, Oregon and Michigan multiple highly rated not signed. What gives?

They have through tomorrow to sign. Some highly rated guys like to sign on day 2 or day 3 of the ESP just to be different. So if they remain unsigned after tomorrow, they can't sign until February. That's when it becomes interesting, because other teams can still recruit them.

He's not getting fired for one subpar season, kneejerk fan, and people who lost money. Under Banks the defense steadily improved the first three years, he had arguably the best defense in the SEC the fourth, and had subpar season (in large part due to personnel in his fifth.
I get that many do not like his philosophy (the few that knew what it is) and I can understand that. I mean I know he's not Monte Kiffin. Most y'all calling for his and Heup's heads couldn't the the difference between a heifer and a hairbrush when comes to football.
Hate to break it to y'all Banks ain't getting fired and no, Heup is not on the hot seat next year so get a new hobby beside showing your red azz every day.
It made me sick watching our 'fans' screaming expectatives at Tony V. the other day. That man has done more for Tennessee baseball than other person in the entirety of the program, including Todd Helton. And that's the kinda 'fans' peddling this crap. If you are not that kinda 'fan' and you participate or like this crap, shame on you too.
Being a Vol fan is voluntary (pun intended) activity, if it so terrible find something else.

It's not one subpar season. Last year is really the only good defense we've had under Banks. Not every year has been as bad as this year, but far more "meh" seasons than good ones.

Simplified? This defense is the definition of simple. Cover 2, man, LB blitz. That’s it.

Others who know much more about scheme disagree. Think Vols try to do too much on defense and it leads to confusion by players at times and tends to get them in the wrong spots.

He sucked as a head coach and was too young for it, but he’s seemingly a great coordinator.

I just hope he's a quick study and can process quickly/well. Be a Hooker not a Nico or Joe. While I'm at it, I hope also has that "it" factor and is one of those special "leaders" that comes along ever so often. No pressure right?

My guess would be George McIntyre will be our starting QB. If not, wouldn't he likely transfer? Faizon is just waiting in the wings.

Hopefully we're paying him enough not to turn tricks. I don't want our star QB spending Friday nights down on Magnolia Ave trying to earn a living.

I wouldn’t compare him to Majors. Entirely different situations both were coaching under. Could you imagine this team without transfers or players playing past normal eligibility rules. We have one OL recruit that has played in 5 years. 3 of our starting secondary was transfers. A couple DL are drawing social security and we have a transfer there as well. George/Merk would be our starting qb.

I love Heup and the job that he has done. All the complaints about our rich fans and DW. Today was possible bc of them. I am very thankful for their support of our programs. Let’s go and win a championship!!!

Not really comparing them as much as I’m trying to put what Heupel has accomplished into context.

These are just guys off the top of my head who Heupel recruited and played this year.

Transfers are part of the sport now. So obviously the entire country would be treating high school recruiting a lot differently if that wasn’t the case.

I would be curious how other SEC teams would stack up to your transfer criteria of judgement.

I’m not sitting here saying Heupel is the best coach in the country. But there are a lot of bad coaches out there stealing a lot of money from schools right now and Heupel is not one of them.
