Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

We had our best recruiting day in years, had a Bama commit throw a Bama hat and pick Tennessee, pissed off Ohio State fans bc of a Legend. If Moa had stayed committed, we would have been top 5 in the nation. We also had a couple more late flips/commits.

Thanks for the skinny @volbeast33 ..I was about to ask @knoxvol52 he usually gets straight to the point😭😂🤣🤣🤣 without saying “ReALlY BrO” 😂🤣

Here is our per recruit average by year for the last 20 years:
2006- 86.35
2007- 89.67
2008- 86.54
2009- 90.66
2010- 88.45
2011- 88.44
2012- 88.47
2013- 85.86
2014- 89.50
2015- 89.48
2016- 89.12
2017- 87.24
2018- 87.57
2019- 90.67
2020- 90.15
2021- 88.89
2022- 88.10
2023- 90.82
2024- 91.16
2025- 91.32
2026- 91.51
I'm noticing a trend here

Someone says yesterday our Schiano show was way worse. I disagree. This is eyes than anything I've seen before. You signed two players, you've essentially lost an entire recruiting class.

Not to mention the transfers that will inevitably want out.

Best they can do isb roll with the interim another season and work to get a solid coach lined up for next season.

I’m thinking Penn State has someone that’s still coaching this season locked up. Surely they can’t be first one to fire and last to hire?

Maybe DeBoer wants out of bama? That would be awesome. Gumps dumped!

LadyVols are very young and we’re early in the season. Had to expect some lumps early on but future looks bright..
Saw an interview yesterday with Booger MacFarland and he tossed out Mike Tomlin’s name for PSU. Probably just throwing 💩 against the wall but things sound restless in Steeler Nation calling for his firing.

We once went an entire recruiting cycle without signing any OL

Steeler fan here. Always liked Tomlin but I think it’s beneficial for him and the Steelers for a fresh start. Time to move on

Just going by what 247 says.
Im not doubting it, I just know in the past it has came up and I was always shocked a school that recruits highschool players to get them to the next level doesn't allow EE. If they both EE we know thats changed and we will be seeing DGG in playoff practices next December.

I realize once we get in our mind a player is bad, no facts or stats are going to change it. But for the rest of us here are the facts.

Yes, as of now he’s only in 4th place all time.

Here’s a bit of perspective on that. He’s .6 of a percentage point out of second (77.9 to 77.3).

The small amount you refer to are during his freshman and sophomore years. Short kicks? Literally half of his attempts this year were 40+ yards. Last year 12 of his 26 attempts were 40+. So roughly half of all attempts were 40+. That’s not a small amount.

Our career leader in fg % is Campbell (78.3)…based on a single season as a senior. I’m sure those extra years of growth and experience had no affect. Oh, and he was 3 of 8 from 40+ and his longest fg was 49 yards. There’s a small amount.

Second is Walls at 77.9%. That percentage is based on 4 years.

Third is McGrath at 77.8%. His numbers were based on only his jr and sr years. He was 8 of 14 at 40+ with 1 over 50, that was 51 yards.

Gilbert is next at 77.3%, again based on his fr and soph years. He is 13 of 21 at 40+ with almost half of those 50+ and he’s hit 5 at 50+.

Gilbert compares very favorably to our best, and no he’s not bad by any measure beyond 40. (I don’t even know what that means since there’s only one measure that counts). And he’s only a sophomore.

No kicker is perfect, (except maybe that dude from Oklahoma.) They’ve all missed big kicks or what some would say cost us a game.
First, great to see you. Second, quit confusing people with the facts.

I noticed Oregon, Michigan and Ohio St have unsigned commits, Oregon and Michigan multiple highly rated not signed. What gives?

Now that we got that done, why is Banks not farhed?
He's not getting fired for one subpar season, kneejerk fan, and people who lost money. Under Banks the defense steadily improved the first three years, he had arguably the best defense in the SEC the fourth, and had subpar season (in large part due to personnel in his fifth.
I get that many do not like his philosophy (the few that knew what it is) and I can understand that. I mean I know he's not Monte Kiffin. Most y'all calling for his and Heup's heads couldn't the the difference between a heifer and a hairbrush when comes to football.
Hate to break it to y'all Banks ain't getting fired and no, Heup is not on the hot seat next year so get a new hobby beside showing your red azz every day.
It made me sick watching our 'fans' screaming expectatives at Tony V. the other day. That man has done more for Tennessee baseball than other person in the entirety of the program, including Todd Helton. And that's the kinda 'fans' peddling this crap. If you are not that kinda 'fan' and you participate or like this crap, shame on you too.
Being a Vol fan is voluntary (pun intended) activity, if it so terrible find something else.

I’d be surprised if he returns. He may not be “fired” but he will likely be coaching somewhere else next year. Could be same role with another team.
