Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Site is glitching and messing up...has been for a couple of weeks now. The page will jump up to the top of the scroll. 🤷‍♂️

George danced personally for some of the new Vols. He'd dance for all the others, too; like he always does on signing day. Just going to let him get down here. Damn good class...really damn good if we can keep Moa and close on the few others.

Yeah, I hate that there's not clear cut parameters that anyone can review.

But total win/losses has to be up there...the playoffs is about rewarded the best teams for the first 12 games...not just 1 big win or 1 bad loss.
I'm trying not to go down a road, so i'll just say.......That used to be the beauty of the sport. The "mythical" National Championship.

And then he decides not to sign if he wins a title and they are left with no recruits and no coach.
Actually with character of this particular candidate they are pursuing that definitely would be a possibility. But I don't think even Lane would would be stupid enough to stay at Ole Miss if offered the LSU job, even if they won. Johnny Majors won at Pitt and took the Tennessee job the next year.
Don't give me Little Nicky's lame excuse the portal dictates it. First we faced much worse situation when hired Heup, second it is the AD's own fault for the timing of the portal, they have the power to change it.

2023 was respectable
2024 was darn near elite
Every other year has been pretty bad.

When I say it hasn't improved, I mean to a sustained level. It's gotten better overall, but not to a sustained championship level, and then of course, this year was just embarrassing. If this year's defense had 2023-type numbers, I'd probably feel different.

Edit: I should not that thise 2025 numbers are from late October. They are likely worse, now.

To start the season we lost both starting defensive backs in McCoy and Gibson. Boo Carter seemed to be checked out most of the year.

I’m not a fan of Tim Banks, but defensive injuries killed any chance of having an elite year.

Again, this defense was sooo much further away from being even decent than two starting CBs. Colton Hood replaced one of those and is talked as a Day 2 pick with Day 1 potential after his performance this year. Tyler Redmond performed admirably for a freshman and will be one of the better returning CBs in the SEC in 2026. There wasn't some massive drop-off at those two spots.
