Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Back in the day we used to have Mike Keith come over from the Titans and host a great signing day show. Now that we have Mike Keith, we don't have a signing day show.
Mike did a great job of following and reporting on recruiting at Sports Talk 99 on WNOX (I believe it was) before he left Knoxville for the Titans gig.
But he seemed like it really wore him out because he bore the brunt and the other guys just sat there and listened it seemed like.

Some of these athletes we are signing are absolute freaks athletically. It's crazy how many real studs we are signing in this class that aren't even rated as 5-stars. It's going to be fun seeing guys like Moa and Rouse turn into stars. <fingers crossed, no jinxes> And what an offensive/defensive line class we are signing. It's more impressive the more you study the guys not rated high.

The portion of our fanbase that wants Heupel gone is about .00000001% of the fanbase.

Yes - and watching other big schools struggle to find killer coaches should be evidence to that small percentage that “firing the coach” isn’t always the best answer, particularly not one who has won at a clip we haven’t seen in two decades.

I've no real inside knowledge... but opinion wise I'm most worried about Salesi Moa (took an unofficial visit to Michigan after committing to us) and then the 2 DL guys that RG recruited.
On Moa, the concern is Utah. People afraid he'll decide to stay home.

Most dynamic unsigned player is TJ White. Need him in that LB room.

Thanks. Any worries or are these just signing ceremony related?
No worries at all on any of those guys.

Edit: I did just see Callahan say this about Moa.

"No one has told me that it's seriously up in the air, but I can't completely rule out the possibility of a surprise. That's one Tennessee will be relieved to get if/when he signs, just because he's still there in the backyard of his father's alma mater."

Sounds like Utah would be the concern. I doubt that's a huge concern.

Still not exactly "no worries."

It's absolutely baseless and ridiculous, all because Austin Price decided to throw his own personal "theory" out there and people treat it like gospel   Never mind that Callahan and 247 have said there's nothing to worry about

Grown people hating a on a man who left one job for a better job is weird to me.
I never hated Kiffin for leaving us. It’s the trouble he got us in, then bolted that I didn’t like. I understood his reasoning for going to USC.

Ole miss should be happy that he made them relevant again. The timing of his leaving isn’t on him it’s in the ncaa.
It's the manner in which he has done it and never learned. Then, trying to strong arm OM into allowing him to coach in the playoffs. Lane, try working in the real world.

The timing is unfortunate, but I haven't seen anyone offer decent solutions when the academic calendar is much of the issue.

It is not that he left, but how he left. Encouraging kids already on campus to not go to class the next day to lock them in to UT, AFTER taking LOTS of money to get them to come. ON his last day as our coach. Just an example of his class optional makeup. Class is not required to win games, but is a fact set that matters to lots of people for every human every day.

He and the ogre were successful in costing us 1 of I think a bakers dozen or close.

Do not want a coach I know going in I can’t respect as a human. You are free to follow your heart too. Go for it.
If you don’t think that happens Everytime a coach leaves you are a naive Person. But sure go ahead and think Lane is the only one to do that.

He is interviewing with Memphis. And there is a chance James Franklin might pull him to be his DC.
