'26 TN S Luke Thompson (Tennessee)

His mother, Sharon Thompson (née Dickie), is a former cross country and track and field standout at Tennessee who was an All-American and an SEC champion. His father, Kevin Thompson, is a former decathlete at Tennessee who also was a walk-on wide receiver for the Vols. His grandfather, Joe Thompson, also played wide receiver at Tennessee.

Luke Thompson admitted his parents are looking forward to seeing him play at their alma mater.
Bocephus approves.

Agree, but he is better than his star rating, I think. Just based on seeing him play a couple times.
He's also raw. Focusing on track has probably impeded his football development some. He'll add weight/muscle and start focusing on football. That speed can't be taught.

I like the pick up, just don’t like it paired with the other safety. Too many projects in that group year after year
Thompson is ranked way lower but hes the better athlete at safety. In regards to McClain

The skillset and speed of Thompson gives him a shot to make an impact down the road imo.

McClain is sound fundamentally and physical at the point of attack, but his lack of explosive ability worries me

Yea at this point it’s no knock on any of these kids, I just want a top100 recruit at DB. It’s the only position that fail to do so yearly. Granted they’ve played pretty well, a lot transfer out though and just overall too many projects. There is no reason Turrentine should be a starter at safety IMO

Translation : "3 star cain't be gud!" and/or you think he's the wrong color.
Wmsn cnty ball is pretty weak outside of Ravenwood. Franklin went 2 years without winning a game. He was not the best db on his team last year. That kid went to Stetson. UT is the only big name on his offer list. Y?
Because him coming downhill to lower the boom on a Ga rb isn’t happening.

I don't wanna crap on a kid on his signing day, but this is one I always questioned. Perhaps some recency bias in our current Safety play and his weak offer list.
Prove me wrong, kid!

My take is this:

The blue chip ratio is "undefeated" as so many on here like to say.

Supposed three star recruits turn into NFL pro-bowlers on a regular basis.

Both these things are true. So get mad at a larger trend of not bringing in enough 4 and 5 stars, sure, but to be salty or worried over individual 3 star commits is silly.
