Coming out of this Kiffin thing, I am sure that he is an egomaniac. Same as he ever was. Lots of things we can say about him, some vindication for us as well. Thankful that his shine has come off after a very aggressive l, and disappointingly effective, PR campaign.
But beyond that, I think this whole experience was just another data point in how insanely compromised and corrupt this sport is.
NO ONE at ESPN has a backbone. The agent who pulls the strings on everything and everyone had them up there defending Kiffin and running the company line like their lives depended on it. They didn't even think twice.
And then you look at Herbstreit going everywhere with his dog, just like Kiffin. They're obviously all going off the same playbook. I'll stop short of the criticizing the other "mascots" that ESPN parades around for these coaches to make them all look like saints and men of honor.
Which begs the larger question, how freaking corrupt is this sport now? Must every decision be run through a spreadsheet designed to calculate the largest payout? Why are 70% of the people who talk about this sport compromised? Is it not obvious that it's way worse than 70% behind closed doors?
What a bunch of jackasses.
