Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Firing under performing coordinators threatening your job security. What a novel concept.

Short-term knee jerk reactions shows how little a visionary and leader one likely is. If you have a real vision, a real goal and knew how to get there just 12 months ago, then you stay your course. How soft is their HC (or how HUGE a mistake did he make with the initial hire?)

Not coordinator related, but Michigan did it, UGA did it, Clemson did it, OSU did it per HCs. People buying into boom or bust are playing a short game. True leaders of companies and entities don't juke one way or the other year to year based on short-term trends, they fulfill a long-term vision, making small adjustments along the way. But NOT based on small volumes of data and not huge swings/big adjustments.

Where are we at on DT recruiting? That’s my biggest concern. We didn’t have disruption up the middle this year. Combine that with losing some seniors on the DL and not seeing much to replace them with at the moment. Hobbs looks good, but needs to stay healthy. I know a couple young guys were highly rated and hope they progress but really need some transfers on the interior imo.

LB I think we’ll be good at next year, assuming we let the right guys transfer out and embrace some of the young guys development.

I feel ok about corner actually, but could use a transfer. Gibson and Redmond are good places to start. Need help at safety and star as has been mentioned plenty. Do like what we have in Farooq if he continues to develop.

I tell you what (hwat for @Jackcrevol)...8-4 with a shot at a 9th win in an off/rebuilding year sure is a far cry from the down years we used to experience under the last few coaches. If that is how we survive turmoil now, especially if we come out of it with some needed changes on defense, then sign me up. It seems to hurt more when we're actually competitive and fall short, but it's way better than the apathy we used to have. The floor is being raised...time to figure out how to raise the ceiling.

Many are truly clueless and many of the rest have short term memory problems.

They think we're special little snowflakes. The rest forget what has occurred in just 5 years, out of ruins a phoenix rose.

Thank you Coach Hype!

Yeah and I think the ones with short term memory problems are my age or older and think it’s 1970.

They forget that NIL and portal makes it possible to go from losing 8 games a year for 60 years to winning 10-12 in one offseason.

Fire tim banks
I’m gonna
Keep beating that dead horse
We made our only playoffs ever because of his defense. 3 straight improving seasons.

Now 1 down season and fire him? 😅

He didn't have 2 of his best defenders either, which would have changed the entire scheme.

Sawwwwft and reactionary. Repeat this next season, ok I'm fine with moving on.

Here's where Ole Miss fans can kiss my butt on this:

Yall didn't care about any of this shiz until he left. Just like UF covered up for their basketball coach. Selective outrage because as long as he's helping you that's more important than any moral or ethical failings. You're going to compare it with the Epstein Files but admit in the process you were aware of it the entire time and didn't say anything? What does that say about you?

We do that too freaking often with people in our "tribe" be it politicians in our parties or players on our teams. If you really had a problem with it you would have cared enough before they burned you.

so you are saying that we should have signed more guys in the portal, I agree.

Here's what I think you miss: people in a position to report much of this stuff didn't. The people who sent it to them did so expecting something to be done about it and nothing was until he left. So blame all those guys, completely fair. But only a few of these women are just now making these claims.

I always thought Tennessee would be considered “back” when 8-4 was our floor

The fall off was incredibly bad
Fire his ass

Teams circle certain games every year and save plays until those games. Every team does it. And that’s why most games seem status quo with play calling and then in a big game, you’re like where was this all year? We know which games we likely can win without it and which will be our toughest.

Look at Vandy, they never played anyone on defense all year the way they did us. They scouted all off season and in season to beat our a**. I guarantee we spent way more time on UGA and Florida. And we should have won both.

My assessment as well

We don’t have any respect for Vandy and it bites us in games like Saturday- the team was amped up for Florida, but came in flat for Vandy and got smoked. Need to treat that Vandy game with more respect because it gets coaches fired…

So like...we did? 😅 We went from 4-8 to being #1 in no time.

And (dear lord help us) only won 10 games last year and made the playoffs for THE FIRST TIME EVER 😅 We did better than expected and won an extra game last year. This year we finished 1 game below expected. So...what?

8-4 the year most people figured we'd go 8-4 since our 5-star QB bailed in the offseason. Joey's been good, but Heupel makes him look a lot better than he is. He has that affect on QBs which is why we were so excited to see a 3rd year Nico.

Don't be shocked if Penn State hires DeBoer after Georgia **** kicks them in the SEC title game.

There is a reason so many staffers are leaving for lateral money jobs...
Because they would rather go to Oregon st instead of going with him to Penn St??

I don’t think so

I think if Nico would have stayed he would have been much better. Nico will play in the League some day and Joey won't. Joey greatly benefited from being on a more talented team and coach who knew how to use him.
Lol, Nico will never take a meaningful snap in the NFL.

Clearly the problem is all the bum coaches on this staff we are paying googels of money to keep.

I believe you were confusing excitement with hopeful.

After last year I think most were just hoping for some improvement

Said the 2008 UT fans 😅🤣🤣

Said the 2022 Florida fans 🤣🤣🤣

And yet in this case...IT...WAS...ONLY ONE YEAR 🤣🤣🤣

Did you want to fire the OC last year? 🤔🤔🤔
No
I trust CJH with the offense
He makes improvements/adjuatments each off season
I’m CJH guy

Banks can hit the road
Head up to Memphis or VT
Is anyone even trying to hire him lol

I don't think my memory is that poor, but it's not worth debating. Either way no one will know how a 3rd year Nico would have looked in this offense with all this skill. And it doesn't matter anyway because it didn't happen.
