Well im that drunk (only time I drink in life is basically before and during neyland games) 30 yr old hillbilly that screams at the top of his lungs on 1st downs 2nd and 3rd hell I scream before the punts. Most obnoxious I get is meeting another fan and yelling **** kentucky and him yelling it back and hi fiving. Sometimes I cuss around kids (******** call!), (**** these refs) but im drunk and their parents know its gonna happen its like bringing a child to a PG13 movie I dont mean for it to happen but its going to so **** them too GO VOLS this is an Appalachian team not some pussycat Nordic team we are known for being insane and the world can deal with it. If you dont cheer I legitimately yell at you to get loud.

You gotta start singling them out in a nice way.. if they're near me I tap their shoulder if not I just make eye contact
"I know you can at least clap old man LETS GO VOLS COME ON GET LOUD OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

I must have been at a different game. It was very loud while Vandy had the ball, and it was a full house. I'm not in a particularly rowdy section, but despite the cold weather and giving up countless 3rd down conversions, most everyone stood and yelled, even into the 4th quarter.

Taking a bit of a dig at the fans who spend thousands of dollars, dedicate every Saturday to packing the stadium, buying $18 beers, and losing their voices is weak sauce.

Going 1-3 at home in conference is unacceptable considering the price of tickets this past year. Might be a hot take, but Danny White can't let that happen. Pay off a ref or something with all that money you are bringing in. Even if that is too far, there should be coordinated efforts to help the home team win. Show replays in our favor. Pump in noise. Throw in a technical malfunction to give the team a timeout. I'd, Just get it done. Gotta perform better at home.

The crowd was not up for the game.

I also think something needs to be done with the seats behind the players. I am all for having comfortable seating and folks paying more - but they don't sit in their seats. Use footage to see who actually sits in the seats - let them keep theirs - but move all the others to different sections.

I don't blame the crowd for poor coaching or bad play at all. I do know from being there and hearing from many others who attend games that Neyland is not the same. I know DW likes to brag about sellouts, but what matters is butts in the seats. Every game I attend I see several empty seats,at conference games too.. I watched a few games this weekend that the atmosphere was Much better than Neyland.

Went to the game saturday. It was my 1st game in a while. Crowd was pumped. There were empty seats in the upper deck and behind the bench. With the light shows, fireworks, and music being pumped into the stadium the fans are not as loud. Also, commercial breaks kill the atmosphere, and prices are crazy high. Overall, it was a fun experience.....however, not what it used to be. I guess having a good hard hitting defense would help too. Unreal how open the middle was the entire game .

Have attended most home games since moving to Ktown from middle TN in 1990.

The marketing of the experience seen in recent years is sales. And contrary to common sentiment... sales DOES NOT cure all ills. Execution does!

When the Vols are in a big game such as BAMA in '22 or even Georgia this year it's a great environment! Among the best in the nation. It's not the videos and crowd shots that get the place to record breaking volume (though that's the point), it's the team's execution and context of play in real time. That can't be accomplished by marketing, lights, videos, and the modern selfie crazed crowd.

Heck, I wish they'd give a real football fan control of the jumbotron. How many times is a marketing / sales focused operator playing hype videos when a significant call occurred instead of showing the play? Frustrating.

Yea, whoever is over the jumboton is terrible. I wanted to see a lot of replays that didn't replay. Kinda propaganda-ized.

Have you ever considered buying those tickets and sitting there yourself? At $10,000/pair, I doubt the patrons are going to be agreeable to your proposal.

It was by far the quietest of the home SEC games. It was loud early, but it quickly went away minus a few times when people thought the defense could do something (LOLOLOLOL)

*a fool and his money...

My son was in the student section and agreed that it was about like other SEC games, save maybe Georgia.

And, he's pretty pissed, doesn't drink, and honest almost to a fault.

I was there. I only missed OU (SEC wise). This was the least loud/motivated crowd for a “big” opponent all year.

There are multiple reasons why the crowd isn't as raucous as it used to be.

Finacial reasons. It is tougher than ever to buy an affordable ticket and older more affluent people generally aint as loud as younger ones. As an older guy, i can attest that i am not as drunk or as loud as I was in the 90s. Well... not most games🤓

Scheduling. Those 12:00 and 3:30 September games are f...ing miserable due to the heat. And referencing the above point about an older crowd just adds to it.

Sterling blaring music until the 15 second mark on the play clock takes the crowd out of it as well, IMO.

The DJ and advertising on the jumbotron take a lot away from the game. I remember games in the very early 2000s...we didn't need a dj or light shows. We had a hard hitting defense

That wasn't my point. The seats are behind the players - it looks bad with them half empty during most of the game. And it wasn't just the cold night. It is that way with every game.

The other sections in the lower bowl generally remain full during the game.

Some of the updates to Neyland are counterproductive of the Neyland Effect - just saying.

The real Neyland effect is the fans being so loud that the offense made mistakes BEFORE the play even begins - false starts, running out of time because of the noise, unable to adjust the play at the line of scrimmage.

We don't get that loud anymore.
