How long do Stoops at KY and Beamer at USC hang on??

Oh I agree. They may be able to find $10 million or so squirreled away somewhere to pay him to go away.

Stoops would be wise to accept half a bag of store brand potato chips and leave. He has taken the Wildcats for enough money and this is sad-even for KY
I think the right number is $10-15 million and that they will work something out. The current situation is embarrassing for everyone. Surely UK has some kind of performance standard in the contract beyond just showing up for work that they can push. And from Stoops side he could do a lot of hunting and fishing for $10 million.

Credible-ish internet paywall sources tonight reporting that Stoops' lawyers are haggling with UK lawyers tonight. Apparently it got pretty heated.

Top picks would be OSU OC Brian Hartline, whose brother played qb at UK. Also in the mix is Oregon OC Will Stein, who has Kentucky ties.

Looking like Stoops is out. Lots of smoke and your board guys are seemingly all in agreement it’s over. We’ll see, but definitely seems to be headed that way.

Obviously I want y’all to fumble this but I think Will Stein or Hartline would be exceptional hires. Would be wise to go for Chesney if PSU doesn’t hire him too.

But uh, if I may be so kind: we’d appreciate it if you took Tim Banks off our hands. He’s ready for an HC gig!

Why would Stoops take anything less than the $37 million his contract says he’s owed.

He's owed $38 million within 60 days of his termination. What could UK possibly offer him that he would consider to take less than half of that?

$30 million to drag yourself into work year after year at a job you hate or $15 million to leave with no strings attached. At some price point the immediate money and freedom would become appealing at least for me.

Apparently UK has agreed to pay the $38M, but instead of 60 days to pay out, Stoops agreed to an amount per year over several years. Both win with this one.

Wow, they really are going to do it.

Wonder if they go after Mullen.

Mullen would be idiotic to take the Kentucky job. Going 10 or 11 wins at UNLV next year will be a million times better than making the move to Kentucky. Especially when better jobs could be open next year in South Carolina or even Miss State. Miss State because he has a very good history there makes it better than Kentucky.

how does stoops win?

we was owed 38 million in 60 days, he isn't getting that. he got fired. stoops lost on multiple fronts today.

Have you seen the tax on 38 million in one lump sum? As opposed to smaller payments over time? That's how he wins.
what's the total time for the payout now? and how is that taxed?

if the payout is still "income", at the federal level there isn't a tax bracket difference between 38 million and 1 million (really 600k). is stoops agreeing to get paid out 60 plus years to dip bellow 600k per year?
