Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

A real super coach Nick Saban was remarkably average in the NFL where he didn’t have vastly superior players and depth. Great coaches will magically have great players. Does anyone think Ryan Day beats Heupel if they swap rosters? Spend the money on players and suddenly your coach will be better.
It is hilarious how convoluted the market is for college football coaches. These guys are not rocket scientists that can do something that nobody else is capable of doing. The job is difficult. Harder than the average fan realizes.

At the same time, once you get into the pool of candidates that are able to do the job; there isn't a coach worth THAT MUCH more than his peers when it comes to how they perform their job. Thinking Kiffin is some can't miss coach that is going to all but guarantee you championships is hilarious. And he might win one. Absolutely possible. But it will take numerous things to line up correctly that are out of his control. It won't be because of how much better he is at his job compared to his peers. Same with Ryan Day, so we really believe he won a championship because of how much better he is at his job than his peers....please 🙄

So. The hottest "name" in college coaching right now is a guy who has never won a P4 Conference championship, has a history of somewhat questionable and immature behavior and will constantly be looking for the next shiny new toy. Not the greatest time for the "fire the head coach" crowd. I would post this in the FF but every time I go over there my IQ drops 10 points. Don't have that much wiggle room.

I don't remember what thread I was in but I just saw someone say Auburn fans have more reason to be excited about hiring Alex Golesh than we do if we keep Heupel.

Where's the logic in that one? I guess he's one of those guys who was like, "Clearly the offensive genius was the Russian!" until we did so well and Joey was nominated for the Broyle's award but now we've lost to Vandy and clearly it was Golesh again.

It's like he went to Josh Heupel for mentorship on what not to do or something.

Yeah, haven’t checked in on Twitter or anything today lol

Looks like LSU, Auburn, Florida, Arkansas all landed their guys.

Penn State & Ole Miss still looking
Wrong. Ole Miss already announced that Pete Golding is their new head coach (NOT interim head coach).

Get ready guys--I heard today that Gruden has been in contact with UT and would crawl to Knoxville if he was given the opportunity to coach here.

Get the popcorn ready
Old news. Gruden already let it known he’s dying to get back into coaching.
Not sure if the he’s been in contact is true.
