I know nothing about their boosters, but considering the cost to fire Franklin, I’d say they have a good booster base as well that would be willing to pony up. So I’m not so sure it’s that huge of a step backwards.

I don't see how Heupel can keep Banks at this point. I don’t care what injuries we had on defense, you can't excuse the way the defense collapsed this season.

Banks has been a Co-DC at most of his previous gigs as a DC and apparently was not calling the defense at any of those gigs. It looks like he called the defense for Butch Jones at Central Michigan and then followed him to Cincinnati where he was Co-DC with Jancek and didn't call the defense. Butch didn't bring him to UT. It looks like several head coaches liked his ability as a coach but didn't trust him to call the defense in games. We've learned why. He isn't good at it. I don’t think it will be hard to upgrade at DC. I do appreciate that Banks took the job when it was really undesirable.

Their fans are just as toxic as ours when things aren’t going well. They made Franklin miserable.

Freeze is an asset. We need sec experience. Heupel doesn’t need to call plays and manage the game.
