8-4 is probably a realistic truth for next year with the schedule we have
I honestly see 6-6 or 7-5 as a reality. Unless we go bonkers in the portal, which we haven’t in the past, and/or Joey is able to stay one more year, I just think we have too many missing pieces and question marks to go 8-4 or better.

I agree. That is what this staff will produce. My hope is DW and Randy have seen and heard enough to force the correction.

I think he's a decent young wr, but the young excuse really falls apart when youre getting paid grown man money. Hes getting paid to make those catches and hes had a few drops this season. I think his ceiling is very high, however, catch the ****** ball.
The money doesn’t make him any less young or more experienced

Agree but here's the question.

Who you gonna call? Coordinators, like coaches want to stay where they are.
You’ve got a good point but he almost has to try something different at this point. It could be a failure but it’s going to be hard to be much worse on defense than this year. At least he can say he tried. If he stays with Banks he better know it will work or it’s going to get ugly quick. I have defended Banks repeatedly but not sure how you defend this years defense. It was BAD.

He deserves any type of increase in NIL this off season. He and Staley both.

I’m having NIL discussions with those two 2 guys first and then worrying about the rest once they are locked down.
Actually he got a bump last off-season for doing NOTHING his first year..gotta a really good crop of receivers coming in... Not saying I want MM to leave but he has no leverage with that big stud 5* coming in...

Staley is a different situation, give him a little bump and roll.

A buddy of mine said TTU is having success because their roster is somewhere in the $22-25 million range (not sure how accurate that is) but I do know OSU’s last year was around $20 million and look what it got them. So my question: what’s ours at? Because on the defensive side, it appeared to be around the $500k range.

My guess is we have a top 15 roster, in terms of dollars spent. We are a top 15 type program all around. That’s not a knock - it’s just the plain reality and has been for decades.

Actually believe the defense will improve next season, DL should improve this off-season and Gibson should be back at CB. Redmond will only get better next season. Go find a stud safety in portal and pay the guy ...

oh no, i'm not defending. he deserves to he replaced, my point is where do you go?

We've replaced in the past, and gotten Sal Sunseri.

My point? It just feels like. today. right now, in this crazy CFB world, things are different.

You saw 6 programs struggling to find good enough 'winners' to fill the vacancies. Now, I get it. Head coaching slots are different. But, making changes mid stream can sometimes be hemorrhagic to the entire team.

Ive never been in love with Banks' play calls, and dont think he is a good recruiter. His blitz packages seldom get home, often, against inferior opponents.

So, where do you go?

Something schools need to consider when they are quick to fire coaches is that legitimate coaches with success at major programs will not make the jump to them. LSU has one last chance here. If Lane doesn’t work out, they will join what Florida has become. If Florida doesn’t hit it this time they will fall to Auburn.

Auburn needs to get lucky like we did. Honestly, Penn State is the most stable job out there currently. I would laugh if Sumrall went to Ole Miss.

Butch let Jancek walk and hired the savior Bob Shoop. How did that work out for us?
