'25 Recruiting Forum: Official Tennessee versus Vanderbilt Pre-game/Game Thread

The fact that defensive unit made the same mistakes every FN week is insanity.

how do these guys watch film everyday and continue to coach the same **** over and over.

I’m watching Heupel presser and he has the nerve to say “this game at this level… the small details”

The small details have killed us every year he’s been here!

And there’s been no change. The same groups have cost us. OLine blocking and penalties. The linebackers not filling, covering and tackling.
The dbs constantly missing tackles and not playing leveraged.

This is an all around failure.

I don’t t care about “we would have taken 8 wins before the season”

Joey came in and was a better qb than the one who left.
And the team didn’t meet his play

Standing ovation for Joey Aquilar. What a ballplayer!

We all need to take this loss in stride, be realistic.

Pavia likely won the Heistman tonight.

Vanderbilt has done this to nearly every SEC they've played. This isnt Kentucky. Vanderbilt is likely a playoff team.

Tim Banks has one of the youngest defenses in the SEC.

He also has one of the top recruiting budgets, and is now in year 5.

With everything we lost to the NFL, he should have had a better grasp on where his roster is/was.

This isnt just about the Vandy loss. This is about getting flat out embarrassed, at home, in Y5 at home, again.

I hate it, would love to have continuity. Would also like to have a functioning defense. Has to he close if not dead last in SEC.

I'm not sorry. We are Tennessee. We are better than this. This is beyond fixable, its time.
Tim Banks is going to cost Heup his job. And, if he takes another job, he'll leave Banks behind.

Oh well sorry that I tried to have a conversation with you but you got reading fatigue lol.
Vanderbilts roster is 40% seniors and 25% juniors. Our roster is 11% seniors and 50% freshman. EXPERIENCE MATTERS. Just once again proving my point that you don't understand college football. The loudest ones are always the least informed.

But in the day and age of the transfer portal, is it not fair to critique a staff’s roster management when the roster is 50% freshmen? Why are we that young? When you have a roster that young and you have go all season without beating a team with a pulse, is it not reasonable to ask why we allocated our finances the way we did and approached the portal the way we did to end up with a team that - if we go with your logic - is too young to get it done against any quality teams?

I don’t expect a championship team every year. Most don’t. Heck, I don’t even expect to make the playoff every year. I do think it’s reasonable to expect to beat at least one ranked team every season and be on the cusp of the playoff if we don’t make it. Failing to do that has to warrant criticism and calls for change. Otherwise, the standard isn’t very high.

Read the bottom of this article. Please please try to understand it. Read it slowly and absorb it. When you come across terms you don't understand like "evaluation period", take a second and google what an evaluation period is. Really try to absorb it man. I'm trying to help you be a better fan.
We’ve all read and know it.
Still let me say it again.
All that at UT vs Vandy with none of that = UT still trumps Vandy.
Yet they stomped us a new one at Knoxville today.

Nobody cares , you’re not smarter than anybody, everyone is tired of excuses

I never once argued that Tim Banks is the answer. Just the idea that our coaches don't develop players. Which they do.

If they develop players, why are we starting Telander and Turrentine? If it’s not because of development, it’s because of roster management. That too falls on the shoulders of the coaches. You can’t make the coaches blameless. Either the development isn’t good enough or the roster management isn’t good enough. Has to be one of the two to get our teeth get kicked in by Vandy and not beat a decent team all season.

Do any of those schools have Heupel or a similar level of play calling HC? Nope, so it's a ridiculous point. Halzle is a glorified QB Coach that Heupel trusts and likes to work with. QB coach and OC should never be criticized without it landing squarely in CJH. It's his baby that he has built his coaching career around and it can win but requires balance and the right personnel. We are close roster wise. We need some continuity on offense and better defensive play on critical downs.
obviously to me Heupel is not capable of being both HC and OC

Well, that sucked😡
That defense😵‍💫
Banks is not it as DC!!
CJH has to find an experience and competent DC and give him free rein to hire or bring with him his own staff.
I told my son we looked like the 3 stooges at times tonight on defense. Good grief what a total…………I’ll stop here.

cmon man. no way he leaves this admin. all other jobs are train wrecks
The admin might leave him, donors will be chirping. AD White has raised ticket prices to some of the highest in the nation and asked for massive donation increases from big donors in his “All In” campaign. They will dry up over Vandy blow outs and Music City Bowls

Yep. These are always money driven decisions.
