We just got blown out by Vanderbilt in our home! I have a lot of emotions right now as many of you do also! I would love more than anything right now for the entire staff to be fired! But I know that's not the answer! I've been following Tennessee for 25 years or more and I'm tired! I'll never switch up, that ain't happening! But, what are we doing? How are these other teams hiring and seeing success quicker than us? We have a beautiful stadium, and one of the best weight/locker/indoor facilities! Why can't we build this program back to what it was in the 90's! Love my Vols no matter what!

Excuses will be made. Zero positive changes will come forward. Sunshine pumpers will tell you that he needs another 8 seasons before his players and staff can take effect. Off-season we will talk about how great we will be. Then get dismantled in 2026 again. Rinse and repeat for the foreseeable future. Welcome to Tennessee sports.

I thought you were talking about our two party government.. But it fits TN also.

And that's what I'm afraid of! We can't have another 2 or 3 years of mediocrity! I want my Vols to be in the CFP conversation every year! We are a program that should be in that conversation every year! We're not Vandy! But they tore us a new one tonight! Completely inexcusable!

Playoffs or bust next season if no high-level coaching changes are made. You can’t be paying a staff and roster this much money, watch the wheels fall off multiple times and then let the head ball coach decide the pieces are in place for payoff if there aren’t consequences for failing to achieve said payoff.

Exactly!

Need to hit the portal and spend some money on defensive players and staff. Offense needs to know how to slow down when running clock is beneficial. Need to get a field goal kicker. Josh needs a class on clock management.

I’m guessing there’s going to be another mass exodus from players at UT entering the portal.

If that happens, something else is brewing behind the scenes that has to be addressed.

This is 100% what is going to happen. Like these: every year is year zero in the Nil portal era, remember? EVERYONE called an 8-4 year getting blown out by vandy at home for the fourth loss. This is perfectly acceptable for year 5. At least we don't have (fill in coaches name) here. If you don't say everything is great always you are not a true fan.

The new reality of college football:

Lose 2 games - Out of contention for SEC Championship

Lose 3 games - Out of contention for National Championship

We need the right leadership to recruit, retain, and develop the players that will get us to that level.

Losing 3-4 games per year just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

What now? We play and win the bowl game. Probably lose some recruits. Get ready to see the same thing next year. Have hopes that we will be good and then fall short of those hopes. We will likely be in the exact same spot next year as we are in now.

It is what it is. We are an 8-9 win program. That’s it.

Thinking we need to shut the football program down for a couple, three of years. Maybe that will give us the time we need to rebuild. Heck, we've been rebuilding since 2008.

We will have 1 less win going forward as they are removing 1 of the 4 guaranteed win OOC games next year. I would be ready for 7-5, 6-6 years coming.

Today's loss should not surprise anyone. Heupel's high tide for the program was in 2022. He has had one good year of defense and his offense is not dangerous anymore. Pavia owned the Vols today and he backed up his smack talk from the summer, good for him, at least he came to play today Vols are about to go through another period of mediocrity, next years schedule is brutal and Heupel has no clue how to fix the program. At this point, I am glad football season is over and who cares what low level trash bowl game the Vols get invited to, it means nothing.
