So if Banks had done that this past off-season you would not be asking for him to be fired.Up and Down Season, dissapointing overall Time to upgrade the roster and staff.
Portal Needs
1. Safety
2. Star
3. Stud DT
Staff Changes
1. DC
2. S/C coach
If you want JH gone, look at who Auburn and Florida are about to hire + look at TN football from 2010-2021
We need those positions regardless who the next DC is.So if Banks had done that this past off-season you would not be asking for him to be fired.
So you want to correct his shortcomings but still fire him?
Because if we have a new DC, doesn’t that stand to reason we may need to sort through all defense personnel and assess?
I know people want him gone, and I’m saying he should be fired off his neglecting personnel this off-season, more than any other reason.
This whole team is soft, especially on defense. Maybe a couple of offensive linemen and our running back are the exception. My take, (not that it matters) is that UT needs some “tone-setters” on defense at all 3 levels. All the elite UT teams had at least a few dudes that would strike fear in opposing offenses. Dudes like Al Wilson, Leonard Little, John Henderson, Albert Haynesworth, Eric Berry, Jerod Mayo, etc. I know those guys are rare, but UT needs some dudes with their attitude and toughness. Also, UT’s defensive discipline has sucked this year. Too many misreads, poor angles and pursuit, missed tackles, and guys out of position. Last year’s D looked far more motivated than this year’s. UT needs to save money by not paying incentives to coaches this year (no one earned it). Instead, go get some dominant DT’s, an experienced LB, a physical Safety, and a lock down Corner. On offense, QB depth depends on Joey’s appeal, but if Leavitt wants in, you make room. RB and WR should be solid, probably have to replace Heard at LT(move Sanders to LT and plug in a new RT). Hopefully the current roster doesn’t try and Nico and Boo type crap this offseason. But by far, I think UT’s biggest need is a change in attitude, mentality, and toughness (S/C coach?).
The most impressive “hitter” or “high motor” kid on defense I’ve seen this season was Perlotte. Granted, he’s young and not always in the right place schematically. But at least he’s high energy and plays physical. Need more of that. This whole team is soft, especially on defense. Maybe a couple of offensive linemen and our running back are the exception.
