Kansas is blue blood program. Quad 1 game. So great to see this team playing so well to start the year. Houston and Vols were never going to get to title game having to play each other. Goal is just to get some good games in and compete well.

I read that the fake championship and third place games pit teams who started in different arenas. I think we’ll play Iowa State for “third place”. It is asinine that they use such an unserious format when real money for the players is at stake. I almost skipped coming out here because of the format, but I found some stuff to do later in the week, including the LVs at UCLA. But, I’m definitely not coming back to this if they don’t switch to a serious format. They could have just brought 16 teams instead of 18 and had a bracket at each arena and had two champions. Imagine Barnes having to tell his guys they don’t get to play for the top cash because Gonzaga beat Bama by more than we beat Houston.

Yeah it is silly for sure. Goal is to make team better and getting 2 quad 1 wins would be huge.

Not sure why posters love trashing a former Vol. Steven Pearl loved wearing the orange and white and is a VFL. Bruce Pearl was a great coach and ambassador for UT despite the the terrible decision made by our dumbass President and AD at the time (deciding to fire him for an NCAA investigation involving a secondary violation for inviting a HS junior over for a grill out). Yea, Bruce lied to the NCAA. Yes, the NC double assholes.The dude has said a million times that he regretted lying. Still, what’s that got to do with Steven Pearl?

Look, when we play Auburn, I want to beat them like a drum, but I ain’t hating on a VFL. I would like to, however, beat your little punk ass like a drum. GTFO!

Iowa St can’t jump Kansas at this point. Michigan and Gonzaga jump into 1/2, TN and Kansas drop to 3/4, Iowa St falls out of the top 4.

Wearing orange doesn’t make you a saint. Steven is kinda a douche and it was pretty well documented during his playing days. It’s not like people started disliking Steven after he left TN.

I read that the “third place” game involved teams from different arenas, so I didn’t think Iowa State and Kansas were competing for that spot. Maybe they called an audible because Iowa State and Kansas are in the same league. This site tried to explain the format. Vegas format

Edit: Actually, Iowa State was never going to face Kansas. It was about which one we would play. The site I read must not have had all the latest info on this silliness.

It was point differential. Kansas was +21 and IS +19. We are +23. Michigan and Gonzaga blowing out their opponents jumped us all. Michigan is +40 and Gonzaga is +30 (20 point lid per game).

I know everyone knew the format going in. I get that. But Michigan plays an unranked San Diego State and #21 Auburn and gets to cakewalk its way to a minimum 500k and possibly million dollar NIL payout? While Tennessee get the scraps? Man. Screw that.

The money discrepancy is just stupid along with ranking by point differential and points scored.

I wonder if any team is handing out the cash as bonuses to players or if it simply goes into the collectives’ NIL funds (or however it gets administered these days)?

I don’t really care about a championship. Games won should be the only thing that matters.

I suppose it generates more gambling interest in the first 2 rounds since no team is going to slow it down and run clock. Just keep the format far away from the post season tournsments.

Imagine a player missing a shot at the buzzer and potentially costing teammates thousands of dollars. The formate also steals minutes from the bench warmers. And wait until somebody has a serious, life altering injury at the end of a game that’s a curb stomping result.

I know. I’ve been trying to say that I read that the “second place” teams in each arena would play for “third place”.

The format should change and if there are two unbeaten teams at the end, they should get equal money.
